Well i am no bike expert but i think the more cylinders there are on the bike, the more noise produced. so perhaps one of the cylinders is getting old or you nee a bike with only V-Twin exhausts made just for your bike...

Engine noise on left side

1. You can purchase a gear set that eliminates the cam chains and shoes. Harley-Davidson should, in my opinion, make this a standard fix and not an after the fact option. If you can't afford to install the gear system, then you need to disassemble and inspect the inner and outer shoes every 15,000 miles or risk total engine failure. The shoe material can also clog the oil pump totally destroying the engine. There are plenty of motorcycle magazines explaining how to fix this nagging problem.

2. Overheating: Harley-Davidson engines run hot. The 88 cubic inch engine ran hot and at the high limits and the 96 cubic inch engine runs hotter yet which is not good for the engine. The 110 cubic inch engines run exceedingly hotter and so much so a class-action law suit was filed against Harley-Davidson from riders being burned from the engine heat (mostly from the rear cylinder near the rider's thighs). Heat burns to the skin is not the only problem as heat is an engine killer and the hotter these big air-cooled V-twins run reliability falls drastically. Don't expect engine longevity with a 103 or 110 cubic inch air-cooled V-twin such as the Harley-Davidson design. Clean synthetic engine oil and a large external engine oil cooler is a must have accessory, but it only helps engine cooling not cure these serious excessive heat problems that self-destructs the engine.
Thanks

Hearing ticking noise in my road king classic 2000,alos where can i buy an oil dipstick

Your bike came with an oil dipstick. It should be on the oil filler cap on the back end of the transmssion. You can get a new dipstick from a dealer, aftermarket shop, or here at this link.

As for the ticking noise, if it's just a slight tick that sounds like it's coming from the top end, this is normal. Your engine is an older design engine using pushrods to operate the valves instead of the more modern overhead camshaft design like other bikes. This is what makes a Harley a Harley. Harley-Davidson motorcycles are designed and built for the motorcycle purist that still likes the looks and lines of a classic motorcycle. They like a motorcycle that doesn't have a radiator on it. As such, the valve train is not as quiet as the more modern design. As long as the noise is not so loud as to be distracting, there's probably nothing wrong with your bike. If the noise is distracting or attracts the attention of other riders nearby, you may need to take it to a mechanic. Without hearing the noise, anything that I say would be even worse than a mere guess.

Good Luck
Steve

I have a thumping noise when I hit a bump. I need to tighten the goose neck.

You didn't say what year or model bike you're working on but if you're talking about tightening the steering head bearings, this is a job best left to a dealership. On most models of Harley's there is a specific "break away" poundage that the front end needs to be adjusted to. Tighter or looser and the handling of the bike is effected tremendously. And, are you sure this is what the problem is? There are a lot of things on the front end of some bikes that can make a noise when you hit a bump.

Good Luck
