I own a 2000 chev venture ls and when i accelerate after i stop it goes fine till i hit about 40 km/h then it seems to be slipping so i let off the gas and wait for it to go into the next gear. Any ideas???
Could it be the fluids or needing a change or is the tranny going?
Could be a shift solonoid, or line pressure solonoid, I believe there are three or more electrical solonoids in that transmission, you could take it to a tranny shop and have them scan for trouble codes on tranny , cost to replace solonoids 550 to 800, much less than replacing tranny! good luck!
Seems to me , the 3rd gear shift range is slipping.
You probably have internal failure.
You should take to transmission shop
What I meant by internal failure is a part that is lubericated inside the transmission.
The transmission runs on pressure from the fluid. The slipping is probably caused from a lack of pressure. There is a seal or clutch disk, band could be damage.
A complete transmission overhaul runs around $1500.00 to $2500.00 dollars.
Some times a transmission shop has a unit on the shelf ready to go. That could cost a little less.
Another option would be to check a good used transmission with low miles. I would say 50,000 miles or less. You will save on the labor . The part can be a lot less. I would guess you can save at least $500.00 or more. I would make sure you get a transmission flush and filter change of the transmission you would be getting.
Good luck , I hope I helped.
