Harley davidson xr1200, hydraulic lifter stuck

I had a loud click noise coming from my forward cylander lifters. when i took the bike apart to look the lifters i can pull the front lifter out with no problem, but when i try to take the back lifter out, its stuck. i can't even pull it out with pliers, is there a special trick to taking this lifter out?

Engine

  • Harley equipped the 1200 Sportster line with an air-cooled 1200 cc four-stroke V-twin engine. The V-twin engine had two cylinders set at a 45-degree angle to one another. This engine used electronic fuel injection in an overhead valve configuration with two valves per cylinder and four valves total. It had a bore measurement of 3.5 inches and a stroke measuring 3.81 inches. It had a 9.7-to-1 compression ratio.
The 1999 Sportster Custom's engine produces 58 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 72 pound-feet of torque at 3,200 rpm. A dry sump oil system keeps the engine lubricated and the Sportster Custom relies on the air flow during riding to cool the engine. Riders can start the 1200 C with an electric starter; a CDI, or digital capacitor discharge ignition controls the firing in each cylinder.
Drivetrain
  • The 1999 Sportster Custom transferred power to the rear wheel via a belt drive. Riders could shift through the gears of the Sportster's five-speed manual transmission by using the hydraulic clutch.

How do i adjust pushrods on a 1995 harley davidson dyna

That should have hydraulic lifters and can be a bit noisy. If it has solid lifters then adjustment must be done by removing the pushrod covers. Would be best to get a manual and follow a writen procedure.

What causes a cold engine to make a ticking noise 2006 harley davidson street bob

Depends on what you are calling a ticking noise. It could be a little bit of hydraulic lifter noise which, if it is light and/or it goes away when the bike reaches operating temperature is okay/normal OR it could also be rocker clatter which may not go away completely at operating temperature but which is okay if it is a light ticking and/or it also goes away at operating tempersture.

2005 ultra classic low oil pressure and making tapping noise. Is changing oil and filter likely to be a fix? Just got the bike a week ago has 25000 miles

The engine is sensitive to oil weight and quality of oil due to the valves lifter being hydraulic lifters. Yes changing the oil could help. Lifter may have failed. Oil pump my have failed.

Could just be fair wear and tear, Ticking noises can be worn rocker arms but unusual on TC. If bike is well maintained and proper oil services done then wear should not be the problem. Use a steatascope to pinpoint the noise. If lifters are the problem, then noise will be loudest on lifter covers. Lifter roller bearins do fail on TC's.
