2005 ultra classic low oil pressure and making tapping noise. Is changing oil and filter likely to be a fix? Just got the bike a week ago has 25000 miles

The engine is sensitive to oil weight and quality of oil due to the valves lifter being hydraulic lifters. Yes changing the oil could help. Lifter may have failed. Oil pump my have failed.

Adjust valves on 2oo4 electra glide

Hi Jd21860, the OEM push rods on your year and model are non adjustable but you do have 4 options for noisy lifters:
1. with engine at operating temperature do a quick series of 5 throttle revs to 1000 RPM'S below red line.
2. Try an engine oil additive Liquid Molly Tappet Stop Noise or Risoline Engine Treatment.
3. Cut out stock push rods with bolt cutters, remove suspect lifter, disassemble lifter and clean with carb cleaner and compressed air especially under the lifter check plate, reassemble and install, replace push rods with Taper Lite Adjustable push rods.
4. Buy new lifters.
Good luck and have nice day.

Lifter noise

No adjustment on the lifters. Because Syn 3 is a bit thinner than conventional oil, you will get more top end noise. This is normal. We've had a few customers switch back because they don't like the noise..

Rattling sound coming from top of engine

sounds like a sticking lifter or the cam chain try changing the oil. If that con't work have the cam chains adjusted. that should do it. It is normal to have some noise coming from the overhead cam.If that doesn't work have it checked out by a certified mechanic. good luck

No oil pressure on '06 street glide

Does the engine sound like a can full of rocks? If it does, you indeed have no oil pressure. If it sound normal, you've got a gauge or idiot light lying to you. Your engine is equipped with hydraulic lifters just like in an automobile engine. If you have no oil pressure, they'll clatter very loudly.

Good Luck

Stator and reg keep going out

If your stator and regulator keep failing, it's generally caused by an overload. Have you added any extra lights or electrical gear to your bike? If so, you may be overloading your charging system. If your bike is equipped with a 42 amp system and when you've got all your stuff running it's drawing 38 amps, your charging system is working to almost capacity to provide the current that is being demanded. This causes the components to run hot and they fail. My advice to analyze your current needs on the bike and look for a system with higher output capacity or take some of the current demanding equipment off the bike. Cycle Electrics builds a "three phase" alternator kit that works well. I've installed several of them and never had a problem. http://www.cycleelectricinc.com/

Good Luck
