The clutch switch circuit is a yellow wire with a green stripe. The handlebar switch has 2 male bullet type connectors that will pulg into female connectors of the same color. One will be on the harness from the r/h handle switch and I believe the other is on the main harness, r/h side of bike under fuel tank. It dosent matter which goes to which just mate male to female.

You will need to remove the gas tank, air box, and possibly some hoses to get to the plug. Not a hard task, just time consuming on a newer bike.

SOURCE: stator wiring overhaeting

My 96 GSXR was doing this too. I found I had oil leaking into the stator case. This had "washed" the insulation off the windings (I think) causing it to short out. It shorts worst when it is hot. Now when I disconnect the generator while running it runs great. Reconnect, and a huge blue spark arcs across the plug. This causes a huge current flow at this plug (back and forth). I haven't gotten all my parts yet to try out my diag. Check under your stator cover, or just continuity test it in the bike (OHMs meter).

Will main wire harness suzuki 750 katana 1996 fit gsx model

Hi Stevecrawford, for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service department and inquire about any possible quick fix. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if possible, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Good luck and have a nice day.

I recently had my wiring harness replaced on my 93 katana 750. he also cleaned carbs, fuel filter, drilled jets bigger (he did this because it had after market exhaust slip ons and i didn't want to pay for...

When too much fuel is being supplied to the carburetors the engine is flooded. When you remove the spark plugs it allows the fuel to dissipate enough to allow the engine to run again. Drilling out the jets is not an accurate/preferred method for changing the jet size. Most of the time the jets end up being drilled too big. You can save money by just buying main jets. A jet kit usually will come with the slide needles made with a different taper from the stock needles. You may need to break down and buy a jet kit or a least replace the main jets with accurately sized main jets (not drilled out jets). In other words your main jets are just too big.

You turn the handle bars to the left the head lights turn off

Sounds like you have a short. The headlight and the tail light are on the same fuse as well as a few other lights. I'd look closely right where the main harness goes from the frame to the front end. There is a lot of flexing and movement in the wiring harness in that area. Look for wires that could have been rubbed by the fairing.

Good Luck

Was riding 95 gsxr and my head lights went out

Had the same problem. There is a green plug in the wire harness situated under the tank on the left hand side of the frame. This plug tends to pick up corrotion. Try to unplug the two parts, if you have difficulty to unplug it this might just be your problem. Replacing the plug is the only solution. This plug connects the wiring from the light switch, to the lights. If you have difficulty tracing this plug, trace the wires back from the light switch on the handle bars.
