Question about 2000 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide

1 Answer

Damaging vibration over 70mph

I'm having a vibration problem with mu '02 Dyna Wide Glide. It is so bad, that it cracked my exhaust bracket and loosened some screws during my last ride, and was causing some physical discomfort as well. I recently re-installed my rear wheel, marking the axle center before removal, and using the nifty little 'L' shaped gadget to measure the center of the axle to the swing arm bolt. Each side measured up exactly. So, I was very surprised at the amout of vibration. I was wondering if maybe the belt tension is too tight, would that cause the vibration?

If this started after the rear wheel replacement recheck the allinement of the wheel it could have slipped. Then check condition of the drive belt for hard spots or missing teeth. If all this checks out have the wheels balanced and check steering head tension

Location of data line connector for 2010 dyna wide glide

Hi Anonymous, on a Dyna all fuses, circuit breakers, relays, and modules will be behind the left side panel cover secured by grommets, four nuts or screws. On later models the electrical panel bracket cover secured by four nuts or screws must also be removed to gain access to electrical components. Good luck and have nice day.

2005 dyna wide glide...fuel injected...have engine vibration during acceleration...bike is smooth free wheeling at 70 mph...vibration returns with engine speed...need help

I'd check the motor mounts. The front mount is easy to get to but the rear isn't quite so easy. I'd check the front mount and the top engine stabilzer.

I assume that you've owned this bike long enough to know how it should feel. The Dyna series has rubber engine mounts. They do a very good job of dampening engine vibration once the engine gets up in it's rpm range. When the engine is idling, the vibrations can be felt then. When accelerating, you can feel some vibration but it should be bad.

Check your engine mounts and your primary chain adjustment. If it's something to do with the fuel system, I'm afraid that a dealer is going to have to check that for you. Good Luck!
