91 kx 250 tight clutch

In a 1991 kx 250 does anybody know if a ballbearing is suposted to go in between the clutch actuator and the rod. (a single BB) there is not one in mine but it seems like there should be to take the resistance away? It dosent show one in a parts diagraham on kawasakis web sight eighter but i cant figure out why else my clutch is so tight to squeze. Everything else seems fine but as soon as i put my springs and the bolts back in it gets wayyyyyy to tight to squeze the lever.

Im thinking it has the wrong springs installed. It has a real thick guage springs in there and i have and 82 kdx 250 that i took apart real quick to compare them. I know there totally different bikes but it is a 250 also and its springs had a way smaller gauge to them. Im just gonna get a set off ebay for $8.95 and give it a shot. thanks for all your help.

Are you shure you have ALL the clutch plates?? the cable is well lubed? the pushrodbearing/adjuster may be in the middle of the clutch basket cover plate. OR you have the wrong springs installed!

How do i change clutch release arm

I believe the arm is on top of the case on the left hand side attached to a shaft that goes into the case. It also may have a bolt in the side of the case below the arm that has a machined shoulder on it to retain the shaft from pulling out. If it does, remove it.If this is the way it's set up, it actuates the clutch thru a rod that goes all the way across the motor inside the hollow shaft that the clutch is mounted on. I don't have specific experience to the 250 KX, but I've been in the little ones and that's the way they're set up. So here's what you do-
Drain the gear oil and remove the round clutch cover on the right side of the bike. Remove the 5 or 6 washered bolts and the springs from the clutch pressure plate. Remove the pressure plate and you'll see the clutch lifter-it's a short rod with a flat bearing on it located in the middle of the clutch shaft. Remove it and using a small magnet tool go inside the hollow shaft and retrieve the actuating rod. There may be a ball bearing with it as well, although I don't think there is in that bike. Anyway, don't lose it if it has one and pay attention to which end of the shaft goes to the clutch arm. You can now replace the arm. When your putting it back together, rotate the arm with your fingers and make sure the lifter is moving up and down before you put the pressure plate and springs back in. Good luck!

Theres a rod in the bottom of my yz250f enegine 2004 wtf is it?

You are probably refering to the clutch push rod. When the clutch lever is pulled in it moves the clutch arm on the outside of the caseing. This actuates the clutch push lever to push the rod into the center case. The internal end of the rod actually pushes the clutch apart to disengage the gears from the crankshaft. Without the rod there would be no clutch action.

I put a new clutch in my 89 yz 250 when i rebiult

There should be a small bracket that sits over the actuator arm and is screwed into the cases. This is what holds it in place and keeps it from popping up

Clutch wont engage after kickstarter shaft installation.

The clutch lever must have been pushed in when i tried to install the push rod the first time so the push rod didn't get pushed in all the way.

91 250 Bandit clutch/gearbox probs?

Keep in mind that a wet clutch requires special oil and adequate free play to make sure the clutch is fully engaged. Chk both. Regular engine oil wreaks havoc on wet clutches. good luck

91 kx 250 torque values

Engine Top End:
Auto Decompressor Bolt 104 in·lb
Cylinder Head Cover Bolts 87 in·lb
Cylinder Head Bolts: M10 36 S
M6 104 in·lb S

the S in that means the specified pattern ... just like tightening car tire bolts... please note all that it its INCH lbs....

don't know why it says just 36 for the M10 bolts unless they left out inch lbs

Anything else let me know as i've got a manual for the 250 f... actually i've got a few different ones

Robert

Please take a moment to rate this solution as i've taken a few minutes to find the manual thanks

1991 Kawasaki KX 250 super tight clutch

Hi!
Help is at Hand (Excuse pun),
This problem described strongly relates to a seizing clutch cable or frayed.
If you remove it try and pull/push the inner with your fingers there should be No resistance, you may get away with a good oiling but I would recommend replacement.
Good Luck!
