SOURCE: my keeway wont start

Check the fuses. Is the kill switch on or shorting out? Disconnect it and then check for spark. Sidestand/centerstand should be up, Got a good battery?

I am unfamiliar with your Keeway and just trying to help. Don't give me a bad rating if I miss the mark on this one. Thanks.

SOURCE: no spark 110cc engine wont start

Check the fuses. Next, check for spark but with a new spark plug. How good is the battery? If needed, add water to the battery cells enough to cover the top of the cell plates.Try a jump start from your car battery. Is the kill switch on? Check the operation of the ignition switch with a volt ohmmeter. You should be getting power into and out of the ignition switch.

If the bike doesn't start and run properly check the side stand kill switch. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. Broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the switch or coupler. Get a service manual and check out the electrical section. Some bikes have a diode integrated into the turn signal relay. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. If that doesn’t work, check out the relay.

Check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center casing.

Please rate this answer. Thanks

JD JS45 walk behind mover. Starts, runs fine for 5 minutes, then stalls, won't restart till i pull the spark plug and cool the motor, plug down. then same thing starts, runs for 5, stalls.

Probably either a fuel or a spark problem. You need to check for the presence of a good spark immediately the engine stops - by using a spark gap, a spare spark plug or a propriety spark indicator.

If the spark is found to be absent the fault is likely the ignition module but check all connections and the stop switch operation before replacing.

If the spark is present then the fault is probably fuel-related and is the sort of thing a tiny droplet of water in the carb could cause...

Huskee LT4200. Turns over. Why won't it start?

Any combustion engine needs 3 things to run...Spark, Fuel, and compression. You need to figure out what you are missing. Easiest thing to check is spark. Pull the spark plug and hold the metal base against metal engine casing, and making sure you are holding onto the insulating rubber of the boot, have someone help crank the engine over while you hold the plug there. Look for a good strong blue to white spark at the plug gap. If you have no spark or weak yellow to orange spark you will need to look into the ignition system. New plug is the cheapest and easiest thing to change and test again. If it is still a weak spark then you will need to look to the coil/ ht lead, igniter box, or pick-up. While the plug is out, you can check for compression in the cylinder. If you end up having good spark and good compression then you look to the fuel system. If you can't find a problem with your fuel system, your fuel, spark, and compression also have to happen at the correct time....so you check your timing marks. Simple steps of engine trouble shooting.

Bike cuts out when riding but doesnt stop. stops at idle and starts again , at idle head lights flicker before engine stops , not side stand switch or crash switch. disconnected power commander no help ....

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose/broken connections at battery terminals/cables, especially the "NEGATIVE" cable at both ends, ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intake air leak.
8. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system, carburetor and/or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.
12. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and/or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.

My ninja is losing power when i get into it. Idles great on all 4 but when i get going it loses power and seems to be just running on 3 cylinders. I have change spark plugs and wires and that didnt help....

Test the Coils . The coil produce the high voltage for wire plugs+spark plug+motor. If the coil is defective you ignition system can be wrong. see the diagram attached.

Model 917.275670 wil turn over but not start

There could be several problems. (1) Is it getting fuel to the carburetor? If not check fuel filter. (2) There is also,a fuel solenoid that controls fuel going to the carburetor, when the ignition switch is off the the solenoid closes a valve, stopping fuel to the carb. When the ignition switch is on the solenoid opens the valve, allowing fuel to the carb. You will know it is functioning, when you hear a small click, when you turn on the ignition switch. If you don't,then this solenoid is bad. (3) Is the spark plug fouled up with carbon deposits,if it is,clean with a wire brush. Replace plug wire, turn on ignition switch, rotate motor until you see a spark,if you see a spark,is it weak looking? If so,replace plug with a new plug. Any time you remove a spark plug, check the spark plug gap, should be .030" for a Briggs& Stratton motor. Use your Owners's Manual, for the correct gap,for your motor. Now,if you haven't,seen a spark at the plug it could be a bad plug wire. Replace the plug wire and run your test again,if you still not see a spark, then the magneto,it self is bad, these seldom go bad. More likely the fly wheel and the magneto has corroded (rust) on both parts. This breaks the magnetic field, thus no current to the spark plug. Take a look at the small electrical wires attached to the magneto, are they broken or corroded at the connectors. These wires lead to the ignition system. If corroded, clean the ends or if the wires are broken splice wire or replace the magneto. You should, take a good visual look,at the carburetor,is it dirty? Is the air filter(s) dirty? It they are dirty, clean by using compressed air or wash and let dry. Remember this, the motor has to have three items to start and run.(1) Air (air filter),(2) Fuel (carburetor& fuel filter) (3) Igniter (Spark Plug). These have to be cleaned or replaced often, these are the most problem(s) of a "No Start" situation. I hope this helps. Sincerely,Brad Locke DTD 12/04/15

My car will turnover but not start.

There are several reasons why your engine turns over but will not start:
1. Defective ECU/ECM sensors (ie mass air flow, throttle position, camshaft position, etc.)
2. Defective ignition system components (ie ignition coil/ignition unit, pick-up coil, etc.)
3. Wet ignition components
4. Low cylinder compression
5. Valve clearance not properly adjusted
6. Worn or incorrectly gapped spark plugs
7. Broken, loose, or disconnected wires in the ignition circuit
8. Defective or weak fuel pump
9. Clogged fuel lines
10. Water in fuel

I tried using quick start on it, but all that did was make it sputter a bit, so I am assuming that the fuel is not reaching the cylinders, anyone have any ideas?

1) Check for spark remove one of the plugs, connect the plug wire to it and ground spark plug base to a good ground , such as the cylinder head , position the plug so you can see the electrodes , crank the engine over , a fat blue spark should be evident. 2)If the spark is good , check for one or more of the following possible malfunctions 1) Obstructed fuel line or filter.2) leaking head gasket(s)3) low compression. If the spark is not good, check one or more of the following a) Weak ignition coil(s) b) Weak CDI unit. c)Loose electrical connections. d) Dirty electrical connections. e)Loose or broken ignition coil ground wire. f) Broken or shorted high tension lead to the spark plug. Difficulty in starting. Check for fouled spark plugs, Improperly adjusted choke, contaminated fuel system, improperly adjusted carburetor, weak ignition unit, weak ignition coil (s), poor compression

K1500 1999 Vortec 350. Weak spark causing motor to flood. Suddenly spark gets brighter and the motor starts right up. It takes forever to get to that point though. Any thoughts?

another issue that causes flooding in the Vortec 350 ( which, I assume you have) is the fuel injection spider. The spider assembly also contains a fuel pressure regulator if faulty can allow too much fuel to pass through the injectors fouling the plugs (a common problem), While your in the upper intake you might as well take care of your lower. A leaky inner seal on the lower intake can cause out to ceep in to your heads causing a faulty spark.

Motor turns over but will not start, seems to be getting gas, & spark

I don't have enough info to give you a specific answer so I've listed a bunch of possible problem that could cause your engine to roll over but not start.
Check the battery and connections, a weak battery or bad connections can cause a weak spark and stop the engine from firing.
Fuel pump or fuel filter, low gas pressure can cause to lean of a air/fuel mixture for the engine to start.
Bad gas, old gas or water in the gas can stop the engine from firing.
Bad or fouled spark plugs, could be caused by bad gas.
Ignition wiring problems, can cause weak or unreliable spark.
Bad, poorly connected or misconnected spark plug wires. Even 2 wire out of order can stop the engine from firing.
Oily spark plug wires, can cause the spark to fire at the wrong cylinder or misfire.
Worn, damaged or wet ignition components.
