Re: steering dodgy on my honda xr 125
Two reasons are that you have either slightly bent your front wheel /or front forks or both even the slightest damage to either of these can throw the handling and steering the best thing to do is visit your local bike dealer and have the aliignment checked /before you do that though raise the front wheel off the ground and check for play in wheel bearings hold the suspension with one hand so the steering doesnt turn then with other hand pull and push wheel from side to side if it rocks it will be the bearings

sounds like a fuel problem i had similer but on a ktm, the floots were kncoked when i fell, i wer'nt filling the bowl properly also knocked a jet lose, aswell as causing a little **** in the bottom of the intake flange (bit what attaches the carb to the head) this would enable the bike to start but because of the **** wouldnt let enough fuel through to keep the bike going aswell as a air leak. may help you may not.
sounds like the bearing's in the triple clamp area are ether warn out or is over tighten a quick test " stand over the bike like you would be like your at a stop light, place both feet on the ground and grab the handle bars with both hands and lift like your trying to lift the front of the bike up to see if you feel any play "YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIFT THE BIKE YOU COULD REALLY HURT YOU BACK". if you do feel play you will want to take the bike in to have this replaced.
This is the closest manual to your bike I can find. http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/57... As you can see, it covers from 1979 - 2003 - Honda rarely change their engine configurations when they make something that works. This manual was probably last printed in 2003 - and later year bikes just added updated pages (Honda does that quite often to save on re-printing new manuals). The XL model is exactly the same as the XR, except the XL has additional components to make it street legal - battery, head light, tail light, turn signals, horn and street legal tires
First look to se if there are any fuses also see if horn works FIX for determining if starter works
to find out take jumper cables and put the red cable on the plus side of the battery and the black on the minus side of battery(ground)
Put the black lead(ground ) on the frame of the bike near starter and touch the red to the starter lead( you may have to peel back rubber boot over starter nut
when you touch the starter nut it will spark and should spin over
if it does then you need to remove the screw assembly that holds the starter button and remove and clean it out with electronic cleaner (you may have to replace it if so go to honda shop and order new one
