Question about 2001 kawasaki VN 800 Vulcan Classic
I test drove 2001 kawasaki vn800A today. The problem i noticied was when I try turning left the front tire or the handle bar tends to turn more left like there is a weight drag. Any idea on whether this is a problem?
Open the hatch behind the seat. Remove the two bolts with a socket driver.
Lift the seat from the rear to remove it from the motorcycle.
Remove the three bolts securing the gas tank to the motorcycle. One is on the underside of the tank. The other two are on either side of the front bottom of the tank.
Push the tank forward and lift to remove it from the body of the motorcycle.

check starter solenoid.see if getting power to starter side when pressing button .if yes check if power to starter w/ test light when pressing button.if power there check starter, also motor, will it turn manually or is it seized.if no power to starter side of solenoid, jump across solenoid posts w/ a large screwdriver -motor will probaly turn over,w/ key on.if small wire to solenoid has power when pressing start, solenoid bad,if no power, wiring or start button bad.

The rectifier has no effect on the ignition system if the battery is fully charged. If you have access to a test light or voltmeter, check for power (12 volts) at one of the coil side-connections with the key turned on. If no voltage at either coil connection, then power is not coming from key switch. Check plug connections at key switch--may be loose or corroded from water entry. Do headlights, horn, starter work? Key switch should have one "always hot" connection which comes from battery. Wire colors should match through each connector. Hope that helps.
