check starter solenoid.see if getting power to starter side when pressing button .if yes check if power to starter w/ test light when pressing button.if power there check starter, also motor, will it turn manually or is it seized.if no power to starter side of solenoid, jump across solenoid posts w/ a large screwdriver -motor will probaly turn over,w/ key on.if small wire to solenoid has power when pressing start, solenoid bad,if no power, wiring or start button bad.

The rectifier has no effect on the ignition system if the battery is fully charged. If you have access to a test light or voltmeter, check for power (12 volts) at one of the coil side-connections with the key turned on. If no voltage at either coil connection, then power is not coming from key switch. Check plug connections at key switch--may be loose or corroded from water entry. Do headlights, horn, starter work? Key switch should have one "always hot" connection which comes from battery. Wire colors should match through each connector. Hope that helps.

Take off seat

Remove the bolt behind the backseat on top of the fender and slightly hit the seat backwards towards the rear tire, it should come right off. The cliphooks are pointing downwards and towards the front tire.

There is a noise coming from the right-front wheel area during a left turn. It almost sounds like a tire-rub on the inner wheel-well cover, but it also makes this same noise when stationary while turning...

I had this same problem and the dealer could not reproduce the noise when I would take it in to get looked at. (during the day when the temperature was warm) So I decided to leave it over night and they test drove it in the morning when the temperature was cold and they heard the noise. It ended up bing the steering rack.

I have a stock petcock on my 2001 Vulcan VN800A. The three positions are run, reserve and prime. Do all of these positions allow constant fuel flow when the engine is not running?

Run and reserve operate off the vacuum diaphragm. Prime is the only position that should allow fuel to flow with out having the engine turned on.

Front end vibration and shudder on turning vehicle off

idk about your oil light, but check that the oil has the correct amount, as for your vibration there are a number of things it could be. The tires may not be balanced, or were balanced improperly, check to see if your tires have a directional tread, make sure they are rotating the correct way, the other thing it might be is that you could have a broken motor mount, you can have a mechanic look at it, or try to locate all the mounts your self and check it out.
