Question about 1998 kawasaki ZZR 1100

My Kawasaki ZX11 gives starting trouble .

The Byke is 1998 model. It gets statrted but when gets heated could not start. Its Starter relay is causing main problem according to my mechanic. (Exterior pbt & interior pur 21119-1386. -Sensor No
131800-0240 TNCF25 DENSO- Japan) The relay cannot send the current ahead is the main problem.

    Where can i get battery for my Kawasaki Ninja 1100. The existing battery is Dry one & made in Japan. The original batteri is YUASA MF PAFECTA YCX-9-ES

Hi Sunil,

Did your mecahnic check the relay? It seems it fail when it gets heated up.
If you are sur eif the relay being the culprit...try searching it on e-bay!

1998 Kawasaki VN 800 Vulcan Classic starter just clicks


Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Starter System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
A motorcycle starter relay is an electronic mechanical switch that has a small coil winding around a piece of metal that requires low amperage and thin wires to be activated. When you turn on your ignition switch power 12 volts is sent to the relay coil which in turn becomes a magnetic contact point that pulls a spring-loaded contact point to itself completing an electrical circuit that allows more amperage necessary to be accessed by the starter solenoid which in turn acts in the same way as the relay but on a larger scale with its stronger heavier contacts making available the necessary amperage to turn the starter motor. If your battery has low voltage it, in turn, makes the magnetic contact point weak in trying to pull its counterpart to make a connection. These relays are usually encased in a plastic housing that may or may not be sealed depending on the quality of the product. When activated they will produce a small amount of heat to their metal components which in turn can create the perfect environment for condensation to form depending on weather conditions and how careless you may be with a water hose or sprayer while washing your bike. After a period of time, several months to several years depending on the circumstances this condensation is the starter button for electrolysis and the slow build up of corrosion which ends by preventing the magnetic contacts in making a solid connection and alerts you to this situation with the customary greeting "CLICK or BUZZ". The relay is inexpensive and needs to be replaced however in a pinch they can be forcibly opened cleaned and resealed with silicone. In a nutshell, motorcycle starter relays take in low amperage and send out higher amperage when activated and for curious minds, the voltage remains constant at whatever your battery reads at the time.

Kawasaki Vulcan Classic will not start


Hi, JD #4 and #7 are jumping up and down holding brightly colored neon signs that say "PICK ME" and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

Runs great but wont start with starter have to push start.Just put in a starter relay not it


Short across the starter relay and see if it starts. If it still clicks then I would suspect the starter motor itself. Careful with the short as too long will burn out the wires. A screwdriver touching the 2 bolt connectors momentarily is enough to check this out. All this assumes a good battery with full voltage. Low voltage/poor battery condition can be the cause of a lot of problems.

1999 Kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja will not turn over


Test the battery, bike batteries can and do just go open and dead all of a sudden, have been stranded more than once, filled with gas and then no start nothing, no lights nothing.

Intake relay


Under the bike seat you can see a relay in round shape with two wires bolted to it you just short circuit those tow wire if the self starter motor works then change that relay before that check your battery charge with volt meter it should be more that 12v like 12.75 then check the voltage when you press the self starter switch it should not go below 9v if it is below then check the batt in shop.

Park neutral safety switch maybe be the reason for the no crank ! Try putting the vehicle in park ,then try to crank the engine . Testing the electrical circuit is the best way to trouble shoot this problem , along with do a voltage drop test on the starter circuit ! This will test the battery cables an connections .

Does it have a manual or automatic transmission ? Manual ? clutch switch . Looking at a wiring diagram I also see a starter cut relay !

1996 zx11 getting sprk to one bank only


Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The voltage on the green wire must be pulsating when cranking/starting the bike, not steady. Confirm by similarly testing the voltage on the black wire on the left ignition coil. If the green still reads a constant voltage, then the CDI is faulty; to be more specific, most likely that the switching tansistor inside the CDI that drives the right ignition coil has shorted.
