It sounds like the tilt cut off may be to blame. If you put the bike into self diagnosis mode it will give you a code. This code can be checked and the offending sensor replaced. The tilt sensor in the tail piece is one sensor that turns the fuel pump off and so stops the engine.

It's not an F1 light. It's a FI light. Fault Indicator. Have to go into 'dealer mode' to find the code.

SOURCE: F1 error

A lot of times it is the exup servo motor needing adjustment. It will cause the Fi read out to eliminate.

Have you replaced your exhurst system if you have did you put the O2 sensor back in as f1 error code is for this sensor and your CPU can not tell if the engine is running correctly and will shut the engine down when a gear is selected

The bike turns off on me but all the lights turn's on and then the F1 indicator comes on.

FI stands for Fuel Injection. The fuel system sensors have detected a problem. It could be anything > a dirty air filter restricting airflow, a plugged injector, an error in fuel mapping, any number of things. Serious problems can trigger the computer to prevent the engine from starting until the problem is fixed. You will need to take the bike to a dealer to have them plug in a code reader. The code reader will tell you exactly what problem has been detected. There is also a chance a sensor has gone bad and is giving a false signal. Keep that in mind. Now determine if you want to do the fix or have the dealer do it. Please rate my answer.

F-I is fuel injection system telling you to clean air-filter,fuel-filter and clean the fuel injector system. This is a good start.

BIKE CUTS OUT F1 FAULT

The meter actually is saying FI as in Fuel Injection. The onboard computer chip has detected a problem in the fuel system. It is a minor problem. If it were a fatal problem the chip would not let the bike start. You will need to take the bike to the dealer and have him plug in the code reader. The reader will tell him exactly what needs attention. He can tell you then you gotta decide if you will fix it yourself or have the dealer do the repair.

Hi i have a h plate gt 550 it will tick over with choke fully out but cut out when i push the choke in .Also if i touch the throttle it cuts out ?

Pull the carbs off the bike and clean them inside and out. Be sure main jets are clear. Re-mount carbs. Next Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Turn the gas on, wait a moment for the float bowls to fill with gas then give it a try. Clean or replace the air filter. Consider new stock spark plugs and clean or replace the air filter. Chances are this will fix the problem.

Please rate this solution as "FixYA" if all goes well.

Bike cuts out after 15secs

Hi,
The F1 display is an indication that one or more of your sensors are indicating a fault. Your bike is equipped with an ECM module that records and stores all fault issues. Unfortunately, only dealers and bike repair shops have the special readers to diagnose your issue. If you take it to a bike repair shop, ask to make sure they have the reader. Otherwise, it could cost you more in the long run by them trying to track it down by trial and error.
I wish I had a quick fix for you, but it looks like a trip to the dealer is in order.
Hope this helps
