Hi, Anonymous if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chafed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil.
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

SOURCE: low beam headlight on Pilot 2004

Hi again,

I lookd for the Technical Service Bulletin on headlights that you referred to in our Live Chat. It is Service Bulletin 07-027 dated May 12, 2007. A downloadable copy is avaibale here. It contains procedures, photos and images on how to address the issue. However, may I point out that said TSB refers to both left & right low beams and not only the right.

Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 2005 HONDA CR-V LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT

Took the dimmer switch out to check for problems. Quite easy to do, but as soon as I pulled the block connector out of the dimmer switch, I could see a small burn mark on the block connector!! And…the male pins that connect into the block connector were slightly corroded and had some burnt plastic between the pins.

Cleaning and scraping corrosion off of pins and connector solved the problem.

If you are having some low beam light issues, and are uncomfortable with these repairs, let your mechanic know to examine the block connector-to-dimmer switch connections for corrosion if all fuses and relays check out.

Unfortunately, the switch may not be the problem but the connection sure was! It pays to noodle around sometimes.

This also may be the root cause of excessive bulb failures. Our CR-V did not start blowing bulbs till this year, after 4 years of ownership. The dimmer switch is a low current switch that really just turns on the relays for the headlights. Increased resistance in the block connector and pins may have been the root cause all along.

SOURCE: changing headlight

Had a similar problem on mine when I installed the cobra light bar. If you remove the headlight from the housing there is a connector (think it was orange) with a single wire. It is the starter-light cutout. my connector shorted out so I had to cut it and replace it. No headlight problems since. It is worth checking, I had to pay $50 to have the Honda shop find it. Good luck & ride safe!

Replace your right switch assembly. The starter button is a two position switch. Push it in halfway and the headlight goes out(more power to the starter). Push the button in all the way and the solenoid kicks in. The starter button is causing both problems.
