Question about 2001 Gilera Coguar

My Gilera Coguar is pig to start in the cold

Hi,

I am having a lot of difficulty starting my bike in the cold. I often flatten my battery trying to start it and have to use a booster. I was told that if I replaced the spark plug this could allieviate the problem. For a while it seemed better but now it's bad again.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

Cheers,

Jono

Hi, My brake light on my Gilera cougar seems to be constantly on. I've only just bought the bike so not sure if it turns off when riding and stays on when parked. Possibly the front switch on the...

could be either switch at fault, start by pulling the wire connectors off the rear switch to see if the light extinguishes, if so its the rear switch, if not its the front.

Tyre pressures front & rear

Look at the sidewall of both tires. There will be a 'MAX PSI' embossed on the tire. It will probably say Max 45 PSI. At 45psi the bike will ride like a rock. At 15psi it will ride really squirrely. Find a psi at which you feel the bike handles well and rides well. One rider may weigh 125 pounds and the next rider may weigh 300pounds. The best psi for each rider will be different due to weight.

Sounds like the starter clutch is sticking on thereby stopping the engine from rotating fast enough

Good Luck
Hope this helps.

Running better in cold

Cold air is denser and you'll get more air in the bike and the engine compensates with more fuel. It's cold as hell at 20F outside but damn does the bike run crisp!,,
