Sometimes seat components are offered and sometimes a complete seat has to be purchased. A dealer for your brand will be able to tell you or a motorcycle salvage yard may be helpful with a used part.

I need new seat belt latches. Dog chewed plastic off; belts won't lock.

Junk yard. Google "junk yard" and your location and you should get some hits. Or I like car-part.com. Once you get them, you should be able to access the bolt that holds them in place by moving the seat all the way forward (assuming that we are talking about front seats). There should be a plastic cover that "pops" off with a little influence. Remove bolt, install new/used part.

Seat back won't stay up

Probably has a broken or jammed lock When you position the seat try pulling/pushing the handle instead of relying on the spring to engage the lock. If the seat frame is broken remove it for repair or replace with another seat back

Replacing starter pull cord on 77 20hp mercury

Remove the starter housing from the top of the motor and see if the spring broke or back wound it's self when the rope broke. If all is well remove the rest of the rope from the spool by feeding it back thru the guide hole the handle rests on. Wind it out and find a hole drilled thru the spool and put a punch thru it to lock the spool in place against the spring pressure. Remove the old cord. If it has a steel hook glued to the anchor end you will need a real mercury part. If it has a knot. your in luck.

Take your new cord and burn one end and roll the cord to a point while it is still molten. Tie your knot and heat it till it is cooked so it won't untie itself. Feed the pointy end thru the spool and out the front of the housing. Tie a knot it it where the handle would go. Gently feed the rope on to the spool when you remove the punch.

You will have more rope than the spring could wind. so untie the end knot and feed it back to the spool and put the cord in the notch of the spool so it won't rub on the housing and wind a few more turns into the spring .

When it has enough pressure to completely wind the cord up. put the punch back in the lock hole and feed the cord out the hole thru the handle and knot it, then cook that knot as well.

Under the seat there is a spring that conects the 'handle'to the Latch, tha tholds the seat in place....you will have to look under the seat to see if the spring is broke

Drivers side seat will not lock into place

Is this a power seat? If not you may have a spring disconnected which would normally lock the seat into place when you let go of the handle. Does the handle have any tension on it when you move it? To reconnect this spring you may have to reach under the seat. The handle opens a spring loaded latch that locks the seat when released. If this is a power seat your seat should not move at all unless the motor gears under the seat have stripped out. Even then I have never seen a power seat that would not stay parked. More info would be helpful if this doesn't solve the problem.

My passenger seat won't lock into position. It slides back and forth as I drive and the bar that you pull on to move it back and forth is stuck in the up position.

There is a spring that pull's the handle back to lock position that might be broke or the locking mechanism might be gummed up.the spring can't be bought seperatly so check a hardware store or replace the seat track assembly.
