Best war to replace BMW 1100/1150 clutch.

What is the prefered way to replace the clutch on the boxer engine bikes. Book says you can remove the gearbox or remove the engine, but doesn't give advantages or disadvantages to either method. Anyone know what is "best" way?

Please I have changed the Clutch plates of my BAJAJ boxer biker 6 times but they keep on burning. What can really be the problem

bike clutch plates are normally running in special oil as they are wet clutches
for them to burn they will be running dry
read the workshop manual and if you don't have one go google and type in workshop manual for bajaj motor bike boxer model- look for a pdf version to down load

Hi, goblealistai and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor or intake seals.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, O2, and or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damage intake or exhaust valve.

Chris battery charged took out of bike. When replaced the engine runs ruff .took computer connection on left out .Does not help Is there a special sequence to follow.

Hi, Goblealistai for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Need to replace clutch

Is your clutch slipping?? Is there an oil leak between the engine/trans?

Replacing the clutch on a R1200GS is a bit involved unless you are very mechanically skilled. You basically split the bike in half to remove the transmission and gain access to the clutch.

If the clutch is NOT slipping, I would suggest removal of the starter motor on the lower LHS of the engine/ trans. and measurement of the clutch disc before you start the work of disassembly.

How do I replace the clutch of my 2007 1200 GS Adventure?

Is your clutch slipping?? Is there an oil leak between the engine/trans?

Replacing the clutch on a R1200GS is a bit involved unless you are very mechanically skilled. You basically split the bike in half to remove the transmission and gain access to the clutch. You need a means of supporting the front half of the bike under the engine while you remove the back half of the bike. Disconnect electrical harness from the rear, disconnect brake lines to the rear of the bike. remove throttle bodies etc. takes 2-3 hours for a skilled mechanic to get the clutch out, then 4-6 hours to put all back together again CORRECTLY!

If the clutch is NOT slipping, I would suggest removal of the starter motor on the lower LHS of the engine/ trans. and measurement of the clutch disc before you start the work of disassembly

I have BMW RG 80 bike and does not charge battery. please help

Check the connections to your voltage regulator underneath the tank mounted to the frame. Motorrad Elektrik sells great book on Boxer charging systems that is easy to understand.

Info

1. Frame. If you've owned K-bikes, you know that nothing flexes between the steering head and the swingarm pivot. Very stable. Not so on BMW airheads, with their double-cradle steel tube frames, which earned airheads (like the R90S) the nickname Gummikuh (rubber cow). 2. Brakes. The R90S has 70s-era brakes. Not so good by comparison to late 80s-early 90s K standards. Many of the Ks also have ABS. Not so the R90S. 3. Engine: K-bikes engines are liquid-cooled fuel injected, computer controlled, and exhaust catalyzed. The R90S, like other airheads, is carbureted and air-cooled. Stay out of traffic jams on the highways, or pull over and shut it off. 4. Tires: The post-90 K-R bikes models have radial tires. I've found the R90S, like the KRT/LT models, to feel somewhat tall with its bias ply tires. That said, several years back I bought an R100RS just to own one, and to understand the experience was. Didn't hold a candle to a KRS in terms of performance, but had a certain heritage-appeal.
