My kx125, can still start it and ride it without a lot of compression, it only gets compression about half way towards the bottom when kicking it, but it does start.. Any ideas??

Hi, Colin you may have a kicking gear engagement issue, do a compression test when the engine is at operating temperature should be around 125-130 psi. for more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please visit the websites below. Gas coming out pipe

First off, the bike you listed (2003 Honda CBR 954 RR Fireblade) has a throttle body injection system, so you have no carb, hence no float.

Red light comes on when i turn the power on my 2003 cbr 954 then when i start the bike it goes off is this ok?

Are you talking about the oil light? If yes, of course it is ok. IT is on because there is no oil pressure. There is no oil pressure because the oil pump is not running, nor is the alternator, BTW. Might I suggest to you you get to know about your motorcycle before you put on many more miles. Find and read the owners manual. Any thing you dont understand, find out. Your life depends on it.

1995 cbr 600 seems to be running on three cylinders sounds like a tractor when idels back fired twice on 5k ride i no what cylinder it is seems to have plenty of spark hold it on 3500rpm rev counter...

A simple test to identify the dead cylinder is to remove the plug wires individually while it's running. You will need to remove the tank and secure it in a position so it will still deliver fuel and allow access to the plugs. This may require an additional section of fuel line. As it's running, pull the cap off the plug of #1 cylinder-if it run's worse, that cylinder is firing. Reinstall the cap and move down the line until you find the cylinder that makes no difference if the plug wire is on or off. At that point, run a compression test on that cylinder. Minimum compression on most 600 rockets is around 150 psi.
The backfiring sounds like a lean miss caused by an intake valve that is too tight-meaning the valve won't come fully to rest in it's seat and is allowing compression to escape back into the intake. Adjusting the valves requires machined shims. It's kind of a big job but can be accomplished with the factory repair manual, a micrometer and feeler gauges as the only special tools required.Good luck!

Should my 03 honda cbr 954 stay running after I disconnect the battery? I went out of town for 2 weeks and came home to a dead battery. I jumped the bike w/my car and it started, but as soon as I...

The altenator combined with regulator should keep the engine running without a battery. It may run a bit lumpy but it should run.
You have either a regulator or an alternator fault.

Hi my 954 runs fine but wont start sometimes after u turn it off and back on headlight does not come on and fuel pump will not run when key is turned on after it sits for hrs it starts fine again ...

Sorry Chris, the chat froze on me. Could be kill switch, sidestand switch, or any electrical fault. You're going to have to get in there and check things out. It sounds like this is one the bike shop will have to get involved with.

2003 honda cbr 954rr wont stay running unless starter is held in hey guys, im new to this, my bikes a 2003 honda cbr 954rr. but what recently happened was, i drove all last night, going from place to place, turning it on and off, and finally when i was about to leave my girlfriends house, i left and went down the street, turned it off and tried to sstart it again a few minutes later. wouldnt start. so i kept trying and trying and finally got it going, but as soon as i let go of the starter, it died. so i tried it again. same thing, died on me. the only way it stays running is if i keep the starter button down. tried turning it off and then back on and the lights werent working this time, not the turn signals nothing, not even on the speedometer. so i tried to start it, held in the starter and rev'd it up trying to get some juice to the battery. still nothing. died again. and when i hold in the starter and try and turn my signals on or my brights it just dies. i took the battery out today and went to go get it checked. they said its a good battery just needed to be charged. so i charged it and put it back on and still the same thing. IDK WHAT TO DO!! i need help! if you would like to help me quicker. please someone just text or call me! its my only vehicle and i need to figure something out now! and the local suzuki dealer is backed up for 2 weeks. its a small town and thats all we got! haha. 9406132983 is my number. someone just call me! maybe we can diagnose the problem.
