I removed the seat and I can't see the battery. Where would it be?

UNDER THE BIKE IN A METAL COMPARTMENT... there are two screws that hold a small metal "gate" closed and very little room ro negotiate its removed... as the design of the bike is weird in this regards, it is easy to accidentally ground the battery during removal or installing the new battery and it's almost impossible to get at the connections.

Hi ...... Find where the battery is, under the seat or behind a side panel. Disconnect the black (negative lead usually with a 10mm spanner then disconect the red (positive) lead. The battery will be held in place with a 'rubber' strap or a bracket and depending on type of battery there may be a vent hose from the battery to the lower half of the bike, this just pulls off and remains in place until you replace the battery. Installation is reverse except you connect red (positive) first.
Let us know how you get on.

Ok I will trfy that, but before I do I don't recall asking you why can't I remove the socket from either port, I have tried sizes from 15mm to 18mm and can't seem to get a socket size on there to remove them. Do you know what size I'm supposed to use or is a special tool, I even tried a 5/8 and still can't get them off

SOURCE: battery removel for a 2004 suzuki 800 intruder

I know for the models till 2002 where the battery is located in front of the rear wheel.

Place the bike on her side stand
remove the negative battery lead at the left side, just below the transmission tube ( cone ) 10mm socket wrench
On the right side remove the security cap on the positive lead ( cross screwdriver ), then remove the positive lead.
The battery is hold in place with a 'floor plate'. remove both bolts of the floorplate ( on each side ) while holding the palte into place.
gently lower the plate and the battery.

I hope the 2004 model has the same assembly!

1999 suzuki 800 intruder. I need instructions on how to remove the battery.

Removing the two bolts on either side of the bike, in front of the rear wheel will open the battery box door (You must look under the bike and locate the battery box). Locate the battery terminal bolts on either side of the frame. Remove the positive side first. The battery should then slide down from the box. Make sure you glue the nuts to the new battery terminal. Put the positive terminal back on the battery first to avoid a short when installing the new battery.

I got to the battery on my 2004 suzuki 800 intruder but it will not drop all the way down to remove the battery cables any advise

Unfortunatley the battery will not just fall out when the floor plate is unbolted. The battery is larger than the clearance. The bike needs to be elevated from the rear to access it. The best way is with a motorcycle jack.
