SOURCE: I have a 05 Yamaha yz85 and I would like to know

Just remove the right engine case cover and the clutch is accessible.
Remove the five spring retainer bolts and springs then remove the pressure plate. Remove the fiber friction plates and the metal pressure plates then reassemble with new fiber friction plates. The metal pressure plates will not need replacing unless they are warped. Warped plates are extremely rare.

Reassemble per the diagram below. Note that the first plate and the last plate are fiber plates and are just a bit thicker than the rest of the friction plates. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Perhaps, when changing it, you got some adjustment incorrect???? Clutches are a bugger, and it only have to be a few thou out and you are in doggie doo doo.

Go to http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp ' and download a (free) manual, if it is a yz250, and check the procedure in the book.

2006 yz85 lunging at half throttle with clutch pulled in.....At the starting gate my son can only hold half throttle without the bike lunging like it wants to take off. Thanks in advance

You need to adjust the clutch, you may have to much free play, this causes the clutch to stay slightly engaged even with the handle is pulled all the way back. Another issue is did you use the correct engine oil, to heavy a oil will cause clutch stack drag.
