SOURCE: GSX 600F idle and throttle probs

hi m8,, just a couple things,, wen u stripped the carbs down and cleaned them,, did u take the main jets and cold start jets,ie the jet that the needle in the carb sits in,, and poke the dirt out with a pin,, so u can see threw all the holes wen held to the light, u have a blockage still in the carbs,, undo bottoms of carbs take the main jet and the needle jet out ,,and clean ,, make sure your airbox is sealed down on the carbs and jubilee clips are tight,,,1 at a time pull off the spark plug cap and pull off the cap from its ht wire and snip a little bit off the end so u can see copper or brass stranded wire then screw cap back on ,do that to all 4 caps, do these checks ,the bike will run good, ,, look more in2 the carbs tho ,, its almost certain u have a bloked jet still

SOURCE: bike shut off when riding.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your description indicates an electrical malfunction. Offhand, the jump start and charging is significant. This points to the bike's battery not charging. Suspects would be:

  • voltage regulator (most likely);
  • connectors to voltage regulator (likely). Check/clean corrosion/burnt marks;
  • stator and/or the 3 wires coming from it (least likely).
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: the bike star and idle but stall went I gave gas

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher at hand when working on carburetors.
Drain the carburetors. There should be a screw on the lower side of each carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, (not all bikes have a water trap bowl). Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carbs to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetors from the engine.

FOR EACH
carb > Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Before putting the slides back in the throat of the carbs, Move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower. Put the rest of the
carb back together and install the carbs. Sync the carbs such that the slides on both carbs move at the same exact instant when the throttle is slowly turned from idle speed. This process should get you back on the road.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

SOURCE: Bike is sputtering in high 2nd/3rd gear, best kind in idle

Sounds like a lean condition. Spark plug should be a tan brown.
I would say the carb probably wasn't drained prior to storage and your main jet is gummed up. Gas deteriorates very quickly especially in vented containers like the float bowl of a carb.
clean your carb for sure.

I assume you are using premium gas. If not you should. Check the plugs. If they are white the bike is running lean.. Make sure the gap is set correctley for your bikes spark plugs. Also check the jet sizes in the carbureator for your modifications and elevation. If the bike was fine and just needed a tune up i would pull the map off and reinstall the stock one.

I have a 2004 kx250f. The first ride of the year I noticed my bike bogged in the air and a little when I landed. When I get on the gas hard I dont feel it. Whats going on?

If the bike sat up for the winter, it's a real possibility the carb jets and fuel passages are gummed up. If this is the case, I recommend 1/4 to 1/2 can of SeaFoam added to your fuel. Lock down the front brake and rock the bike back and forth to mix the additive with the gas. Crank the bike and run at high idle for a few minutes, and since it is rideable, ride like you normally do and see if it gets more responsive after an hour or so.

Why would my troy buit lawn tractor sputter and

The tractor is bogging down under load, which can be due to a dirty carburetor or carb out of adjustment or it may just need a general tune up. Before you start tearing things apart, try some carb cleaner poured in the gas tank, and spray some carb cleaner down throat of carb. Check air cleaner and spark plug. Spray all linkages, connecting points, etc on the carb and engine to clean away any gunk.

Bike Died - No Power

i would check if you have a short somewhere.....but first make sure your battery connections are tight....gauges turning off and on while riding is usually a sign of a loose connection meaning you hit a bump or something and it briefly clips out...did the bike actually turn off??? i dunno....but that seems to be a very odd problem....take out the battery, put it on a trickle and let it charge to full cap....then reconnect making sure the terminal connections are secure and see what happens.... if that works, we''ll have to start diagnosing further, but like they always say, check the obvious first !

Breaking Down

The problem may be a pinched fuel or vacuum hose, or a weak/collapsed vacuum hose. The problem may be varnished fuel/carburetors. It may be an electrical problem: loose connector or defective conductor. I cannot help you other than this without having the Duc and performing a few tests. The Monsters are fun to ride.

000 rpm and above. I thought maybe bad gas(filled up before I noticed) so I went home drained my tank and then filled up from a different station. Took it out to test and the same thing happens. It seems to me that it is getting to much fuel or something. If you hold the throttle wide open it will load up and die. Runs normal under 6000 rpm's. I checked every electrical connector on the bike and it's still screwed up. I guess I have to take it to the dealer hopefully I'll get it back before winter arrives in 2 months. Bogging down

got my side stand switch fixed and took her out for a spin and had yet another problem. When im riding it and take off it kinda sputters unless i crack it all the way open and then it runs out great. It seems that the problem is is just like at half throttle taking offit just sputters. A ny suggestins? The bike had sat for about six months before i got it. also VR 2000 Enduro Your carbs are clogged somewhere because the gas sat so long -- it turns to varnish over time and it likely has clogged your low-speed jets. (When you crack it open it's on the main jet and gets enough fuel.) You should get a product called SeaFoam, which can help clear carbs. If that doesn't work, you'll need to take the carbs apart and clean out the little passages. ,,,
