SOURCE: WHAT DO I HAVE TO REMOVE TO GET TO THE BATTERY

Remove the seat. The battery is in the "horseshoe" oil tank. You can get to both battery post by simply removing the seat.

Disconnect the negative post first. Then connect the pigtail for the Battery tender to the postive post. Connect the negative side of the pigtail to the negative post last. This way you won't get any unwanted "sparks".

87 Sportster how do i adjust the clutch from the primary.

To adjust your clutch on your Sporty, loosen the lock nut where the cable adjuster goes into the primary case. Turn the cable adjuster into the primary cover and get as much slack as you can in the cable. Then remove the round plug on the outside of the primary. Take the spring and the lock nut out of the adjuster hole. There is a slotted screw in the hole. Turn the screw counterclockwise until it stops. Then turn it back 1/4 turn. Reinstall the lock nut and the spring. Replace the round cover. Then turn the cable adjuster out as far as you can get it. Then turn it back in until you get a 1/16 inch freeplay at the clutch lever.

Good Luck

Im trying to add primary oil but dont know where to add it at

If its a Harley.. To add oil into the primary the best way is to remove the derby cover. Its the Round cover on your outer primary cover. Newer models have a 5 hole pattern. Takes a T27 to remove it. Not sure what bike you have. So fill to the bottom of the diaphragm spring. Use loctite when you put cover back on. Don't over tighten. Torque to 100inlbs.

Hav aplug with the letters g x y which color wire to which letter

1) Look at chart on following link to identify plug:
http://www.elecordset.com/twistlockplugs-powercordsets.aspx

2) Something doesn't sound exactly right, are you sure the plug has just 3 terminals?
3 terminals are usually not labeled X Y G, they are X Y W or X Y Z
G is always ground, and X is always Hot, and Y is supposed to other Hot wire in 240V circuit.

3) It sounds like a 240Volt plug that usually has 4 terminals
G is ground
X is black Hot wire
Y is red Hot wire
W is white Neutral wire
240V circuit will work without the Neutral wire.

4) Add a comment and say what plug goes to.
Is this an air conditioner receptacle or clothes dryer plug or oven plug or twist-lock equipment plug?
What is this thing used for, and what does it plug into?

5) Electricians don't guess, they test
Add a comment and say what you are plugging into.
If you are plugging into existing power source, then you can test the outlet:
Use ordinary tester. Test each slot to round-shaped ground slot. If both slots light up when tested to ground, then circuit is 240Volt.
If one slot lights up, then that is Hot wire and circuit is 120Volt, and black wire connects to Hot.
If one slot lights up, then test Hot wire slot to other slot. If tester lights up, then other slot is Neutral, and White wire connects to Neutral.

Add a comment for more free help.
Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, expert speaks with you over phone while you work on circuit or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

When flushed, not enough water coming from bowl rim holes to wash waste off sides of bowl. Have checked holes around top rim, none are plugged. This has been a problem since purchased one year ago.

Its simple. Check to see if you installed toliet right by removing top of tank and holding handle all the way down. Did it flush from all rim holes? If not, then u will need to get a garden hose with a sprayer to increase pressure and shot high volocity water at rim holes to unblock it. Remember the very front on newer blows do not have holes its a pee shield. Also try doing these other things adjust screw inside tank to make sure the bowl has enough water in it to do a good job. Check the rubber tube going into the hollow pipe and make sure it is going fully inside the plastic pipe that is sticking out of the top of the water in the tank. Also you need to have enough water in tank to allow it to flush good. To increase tank water levels then just unscrew the big plastic ball (or just bend wire to allow more water or bend to allow less water) at top of water in tank. Also increase (max) water pressure at wall to allow it to work at its best. If you have hard water it can cause problems but you say it happened even new, so, you do not have to go in that direction.

2003 fxstb bike will every so often will spit and sputter more so at higher rpm at a constant speed what would cause this ?

Ohh, that's hard to say what would cause this because there are so many things. It could be carb jetting, spark plugs, plug wires, trash or water in the fuel (especially a little water), or most anything. The problem is that since it only does it intermittantly, you'll just have to try a few things and see if it goes away.

The first thing I'd do is drain the tank and take the fuel petcock out. Check the screen and the vacuum diaphragm in the petcock. Take the four screws out of the back plate on the petcock and carefully take it apart. There is a needle, a spring, and a diaphragm in there. Hold the diaphragm up to the light and gently stretch it. Look for a hole. If you find a hole, replace the diaphragm. If not, make sure the petcock ports are clear of any debris and reassemble it.

When you put the fuel back in the tank, watch for water. Still, it's a good idea to buy a can of Sea Foam and add some to the fuel.

Good Luck

Not just changing oil, but is there gear oil to change, 1988 Harley 883 XL Sportster

Yes, there is oil in primary and transmission of your Sporty. To drain the oil, look for the drain plug on bottom of rear section of the primary area, back near the large round section of the primary. Drain the oil here and replace the plug. Add the oil at the top primary chain inspection port, large plug with a large "screwdriver" slot or two small bolts in it. Add 32-36 ounces of H-D "primary lubricant for Sportsters".

I would like to know where the plug for the dishwasher drain in my new badger 1 disposal is?

Hello,
#/4 of the way to the top there is a round pipe like thing sticky out from the side of the disposal...
Take a screw driver and pop the back out of the round hole to allow the water to get into the disposal...
Also dump the blank out of the disposal before operating it.
The just hookup the dishwasher discharge hose to the round hole and your are ready to go!!!

How do I get to raer spark plugs in a 2004 gallant 3.8

The 4 spark plug wires are on top of the engine towards the back. Take off the black plastic cover connected to the air system and there will be 4 round inserts in a row(plasticy looking on top) with a screw on the front end and a plug towards the back. undo the plug and the screw, pull out the insert and way at the bottom of the hole, ~7inches in, are your spark plugs. They are size 5/8 if you need to know and an extension and spark plug sockets(with the little rubber grip thing) are immensly helpful.
