You have probably already done this, but...
Recheck your connections to the new components.
Then check your spark plug & spark plug wire on the non firing cylinder. Next you need to check out the coil.

My petrol stone cutter misfires badly. It starts al-right but then the engine keeps misfiring sending flames out of the exhaust

Is this a 2 cycle engine, I ask because you said fuel mixture was correct. If so 2 cycle engines build up carbon at the exhaust an needs to be cleaned out so often. I have seen the exhaust glow red because of it. This will cause problems. In a 4 cycle engine if the valvues get out of adjustment they run erratic. Can you tell what brand and model engine is

I have a read screen on my 2001 Jaguar S- Type that says " Fail Safe Engine Mode. What does it mean

Hi, fail safe engine mode means that the ECM (Electronic control module) or computer box as some know it, is running in a mode whereby it is bypassing a particular component in the engine that has gone faulty in order to keep the car from cutting out, or has picked up an erratic function in any component, which is more than likely an electrical problem and could be one of the following which have to be checked by computer analysis equipment at the Jaguar agents or any one else that is familiar with the process that is required to trace the fault. Here are the possible causes: 1.Erratic wire connection 2, Engine cooling Fan thermal switch. 3. Control module 4. CKP sensor 5. Computer box not functioning correctly (a rare fault) 6.Engine coolant fan not working, or running erratically. Unfortunately only a computer analyis will depict the location of the fault and if the repair man is very experienced will be able to sort it out quickly with the computer analysis.( Although I strongly suspect it to be the cooling fan thermal switch which is working erratically and will soon fail completely.)
So get your car to the experts as soon as possible especially if it could be the cooling fan thermal switch, which could cost you a major expensive engine repair job if your Jaguar overheats.
Have a good day.

Trouble code P0320 ignition/dist. engine speed input circuit

P0320 - Ignition / distributor engine speed circuit malfunction

The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module (ECM) is continuously monitored. The test fails when the signal indicates that 2 successive erratic profile ignition pickup (PIP) pulses occurred.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of Power
- The engine may be harder to start
- The engine may stumble or stall

When is the code detected?
The P0320 code is triggered when 2 successive erratic PIP pulses are detected.

Possible Causes:
- Loose wires/connectors
- Faulty Crank Position Sensors
- Arcing secondary ignition components (coil, wires and plugs)
- Low battery charge
- Powertrain Control Module

Possible Solutions:
- Resecure loose wire or connectors
- If battery charge is low, recharge or replaced battery
- Replaced crank position sensor
- Replaced starter motor

Test it and tell us news.

Engine running problems

That is the classic sign of a faulty electrical control component and the problem could be that the ignition module on the side of the distributor is most likely faulty, and when the ignition module gets too hot the engine will mis-fire and can even stop running. Also, remove the distributor cap and inspect the connector from the pick-up coil/stator where the ignition module connects to it, and if the connector is dark or burnt looking then also replace the pick-up coil/stator or the entire distributor. Be sure to check that the spark plugs have not been carbon fouled from the engine mis-firing. Here are some images to assist you.

Also, there is the possibility that there might be a fault with the fuel pump, and a fuel pressure gauge would be the best way to determine if the fuel pump is faulty, and the ECU (Engine Control Unit) might be faulty. However, the symptoms that you describe seem to be more that of the ignition module.

Erratic idoling when warm

sounds like the air idle valve , if you can get hold of valve to test, try this find valve on inlet manifold and pull hose off going to throttle body, reconect hose to new valve so valves are i line to each other, start car and let it idle for a few moments till the fast idle slows down, then disconnect the wirering goint to the original aiv and connect to the new one , hopefully the original one would have been diconnected in the open position , reconnect wirering to the new valve and turn engine off. disconnect battery for 20 seconds . recon battery and turn ignition on, pump gas pedel 5 times to reset . start engine and let it idle for a few moments ,then try to turn steering wheel , engine speed should rise slightly due to load from power steering pump and then settle back down 875 1075 rpm.this is what the air idle valve should do. if it doesen't look at wiring goig to aiv might have scuffed through.
