98 BUICK REGAL: GRINDING OR RUBBING NOISE WHILE TURNING

ONLY WHEN A PASSENGER IS PRESENT IN THE REAR SEAT AND I TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION OR GO OVER A GRADE CHANGE LIKE AN INTERSECTION, THERE IS A RUBBING OR GRINDING NOISE THAT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE REAR HALF OF THE VEHICLE THAT APPROXIMATES THE REVOLUTION OF THE WHEEL. I AM STUMPED.

It's something in the back wheels making the noise. Not to many parts to make that when rolling. So check the wheel bearing it's super easy. Jack the car rear tires up to clear the ground doing that. Now shake the tire back and forth to feel any movement. If it moves any little it's most likely a bad wheel bearing. Remove Nd replace. If it's rubbing then remove the tire and look for scratches on the caliper rubbing the wheel inside. Or shocks. If you don't know what your doing goto a shop and let them inspect it for you. Also if you have a tire that is wearing tread off the sides that will be a clue which side it is.

SOURCE: signal bulb on 2003 buick regal

To change front turn signal –
open the hood; look in back of headlight; two white clips; pull straight up, and then whole headlight comes out including turn signal; it is all one unit; remove rubber cover, then you take bulb out of unit. Mechanism that bulb fits in will need to be turned clockwise (looking from the front) and pulled to get it out of the larger unit holding all lights. Be sure and put rubber cover back on before re-inserting the two white clips.

Check for leaks in the brake lines and calipers or brake cylinders. If leaking have it repaired right away its not safe. Change the brake fluid, take the old fluid out add new fluid or have it professionally done.

The fluid in the versa trak AWD in the rear is old and needs to be drained and refilled. After you drain and refill it, make a bunch of sharp left and right hand turns, then drive it for 10 minutes. Drain and refill it for the second time and problem solved. Use only versa trak fluid available at any GM dealership. There is TSB on this now at the Buick dealership.

Have a metal grinding noise when turning left only.

Replace the right side wheel bearing. But before you replace it. Listen to see if the noise is coming from the front or back. If you can't tell, Put some one in the back seat. Front bearings usually make noise. rear bearings, the noise can come and go.

Rubbing/grinding noise

Usually the strut bearing will make this noise upon turning a corner and hitting a rut or pot hole when turning. A wheel bearing will make a low pitched whinning sound constantly

My Buick Regal 98 back seat belt (passenger side) is stuck. Is moving a little bit but that's all, can not use it to restrain a passenger. What should I do? How to take out the original seat belt box? It's...

Is the belt twisted? If you pull it all the way out it will engage the child lock. If the child lock is engaged and the belt is twisted, you have to try to feed the belt back in far enough to disable the child lock
