Question about 2001 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic
I rode into work in particulary cold weather the other day...it was about 15 degrees. When I tried to leave work the starter would turnover but not fire up but after a short time it was start making a tapping sound and stop trying to start up. The light has full power and I haven't had any trouble before this. Any idea....I gave it a couple days of rest tried again today since it's a warmer day but it still won't fire. It would turn and then switch to the tapping sound.
Check your battery connections. One or both could be loose or corroded. Most likely loose. You would still have power to your lights but too many amps for the starter to work with loose connection...
