SOURCE: gear shift lever moves but

The shift solenoid is stuck. The lever is moving, but its not making the gears to shift.First check the shift solenoid, if its stuck / worn out cracked. It has to be replaced. Also check the brake light switch. The brake light switch has alot to do with being able to shift from park since the sensor sends a signal telling the system that the brake pedal is being pressed and to allow you to shift from park. -- There is a small cable attached to the ignition switch that unblocks the gear shift. When this cable gets loose or broken it does not unblock the gear shift, causing it to get stuck.--- Checkout, this should help.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

Pickup starts great, goes into all gears but won't move. It's like it is still in nutural.

Assuming the pickup is an automatic, check the transmission fluid. The #1 cause for transmission slippage is lack of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

If the pickup is a standard shift, the pin that connects the shift to the transmission has likely broken. You would still be able to shift from the inside but the gears won't engage. A bad clutch is also a possibility but you would have noticed a burning smell prior to the clutch giving out.
