SOURCE: I washed my 08 50 Vespa and now it won't start?

Where is the battery located on your Vespa? If the compartment it is in was not sealed properly, water from a high pressure hose could get in there and corrode the post or cables. In addition, any electrical wiring that does not have proper insulation will also experience corrosion. Do you turn the ignition key and it does nothing, or does the Engine turn?

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or have an improper gap or are partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition.
3. Battery damaged or nearly discharged, should have 12.5 volts.
4. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Throttle controls not adjusted correctly.
6. Water or dirt in the fuel system.
7. Water or dirt in the carburetor.
8. Faulty fuel pump.
9. Intake air leak.

Vespa px200 won't start

1) did you pull the choke (under fuel tap) ?
2) did you fill gasoline (+ 2% oil mix)?
3) if that does not help get a new spark plug
4) push-start the Vespa in 2nd gear with clutch pulled and let the clutch go after you reach a certain speed (easier downhill)

Gas overfill - Vespa LX50 won't start

It is unlikely that being unable to start is caused by overfilling the tank.

Remove the spark plug, clean it with a wire brush, and check for a spark. Turn the ignition on, put the spark plug and lead attached against the cylinder head and kick it over. You should have a fat blue spark under the electrode. Check the gap and replace the plug.

Another thing you can check for is either a pinch or an airlock in the fuel line to the carburetor.

it can also be the coded key (blue or brown keys only) sends no signal to open up the antitheft lock - there is a small red indicator on the instrument panel (see owner manual) cff7b72a-c6fb-4662-aad3-40dbf63c25fb.jpg
