Question about 2009 Harley Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic

Throttle cable is stuck

2009 Heritage... It was running in the garage to warm up and when I got on to ride, the throttle will not move. I took apart the switch housing to check everything in there and it was fine. The throttle cable itself would not pull even by hand... I can't find anything on the net to further diagnose and the shop will be happy to take a look at $100/ hr...

Bring it over let me ride her for a few years and I'll fixit for a small fee.  That front mount may be worn enough to cause this. May be a timing thing, or a vacuume leak at one head, get some wd 40 and spray on the manifold when she is running, rev it up and spray it, if you have some leak this will make it show up. Then clean her up, get that junk off my engine before you bring it over.

SOURCE: I am replacing switch housing on 2003 HD Heritage

I'm not really sure on your '06 but I don't think Harley has changed them. Each cable has a metal ferrel on the end of the cable housing. On this metal piece is another piece that is kind of like a split ring. Once you adjust the cable as loose as you can get it, the cable housing should pull out of the switch housing. You may have to spray some penetrating oil in there. Just kind of wiggle it while pulling it straight out. I think that's the way it works on the later models. Earlier models had threaded ferrels.

Michelle,
You have not mentioned the spark plug. Did not check or did not mention here? Anyway, please check if the rear plug is getting blueish spark. You also mention of an asthamatic running. It could be fuel problem as well. Remove the rear spark plug wire, insulate it and try to run the bike a short period. See if there is any difference. And then come back to me.

SOURCE: 2000 1200 Sportster won't start

The classic indicator of a clogged idle jet is that the bike won't idle unless the choke is on. It may or may not rev if throttle is applied. If the bike has been sitting (sometimes as little as 3 weeks) the **** that is sold as gasoline will evaporate and leave deposits that clog the idle jet, and maybe the main jet.
If you can get the bike to rev, it indicates the main jet is not clogged, only the idle jet. Pull the idle jet out and see if the you can see light thru the orifice. If the jet is clogged DO NOT try to unclog it with anything that could alter the size of the jet. A straight piece of fine wire is ok, or just use carb cleaner to blow it out. If it ain't passin' light, it ain't passing fuel.
Ideally you would pull the carb off, remove all of the attached pieces, remove the idle air screw plug to remove the screw, soak the carb and pieces in cleaner, blow the passages out, and reassemble. You can likely get by with just cleaning the jets.
The suggestions of SeaFoam or other additives will work to keep the buildup of deposits down. They just don't do a lot of good when the fuel isn't flowing thru the jets.
Open your fuel cap and take a sniff. If what you smell reminds you of paint thinner, drain that **** out. it is no longer gasoline, all thought it will burn.
Good luck. Fuel additive (Stabil, Seafoam, Yamaha, Kawasaki, etc) and a battery tender are your friends when you bike is just sitting.

Why does the mower have to be full throttle to start it, to make it move at all, and to stay running at all?

this could be a few things as to cause :

1- throttle cables stretch as they get older , if marking on throttle says "run" it might really be choke on carb - looking down carb body(air clean off) with engine off move throttle to choke the choke butterfly should shut off (choke does have small hole in it) the butterfly should not be just barely moving or half way it needs to be closed all the way
2- modern fuels leave deposits inside of carbs if machine is left to set for long times (weeks) these deposits don't just get washed away when the engine is started again either , they must be chemically or mechanically flushed away by either a carb cleaner (chemical) or taking carb apart and cleaning it totally out (inside and out) -these deposits cause poor carb performance and even non working engines
a method to keep from having to do this often , is to install a fuel shut off valve in the fuel tank ( might already have one there you just gotta look for it) and when your done with machine shut off the gas valve and allow it to run out of gas dry !

I think the accelerator for vento scooter is stuck and when it shuts off makes a weird noise

You should know it if the accelerator (throttle) is stuck. If the throttle moves freely and the engine responds, it's not stuck. If the engine doesn't respond to input from the throttle it needs to be thoroughly checked from the throttle assembly on the handlebars to the carburetor. A corroded, kinked, or frayed cable can cause the throttle to stick. DO NOT RIDE WITH A STUCK THROTTLE! If it does hang wide open, hit the kill switch immediately and sort the issue out before trying to start the scooter again.

Throttle is jammed on 09 heritage classic, won't return

From your description, the following is usually the cause:

Remove twist grip from end of handlebar, and apply a THIN coating of hi-temp grease to the handlebar end where the throttle sleeve rides.

Lube the throttle cables.

Check cable routing, making sure that there's no tight bends, and it's not hanging up, or pulling.

Check for weak/broken throttle return spring (if there i one)

Im experiencing a sticky throttle i have to turn the throttle down seems to be in spring action?? i took the cap off and all seems ok but it the throttle does not spring back!! help this dumb engine man...

The cable could be frayed.
If you can open pu the throttle housing and pull out the cable and hold the little end piece between your fingers.
Slide the cable and check for any catching.
By removine the cable from the twist grip you have an extended piece of cable to check for freeplay.
It wouldnt hurt while you have it apart to oil the sheath the cable rides in,who knows you might get lucky.

I need to how to connect the throttle to the carb on a briggs and stratton riding mower a diagram would be great.

Don't have a diagram. It's pretty simple, tho.

There is a throttle cable run from the throtle control lever on the dash down to the carburetor. There is a lever on the carburetor -- usually this has a hole in it where the end of the throttle cable hooks.

There should be a clamp in that vicinity to hold down the throttle cable housing to allow the cable inside to move back and forth without moving the cable housing,
