Question about 1995 Yamaha FZR 600

Running problem i have a fzr 400, it runs about a mile then dies... the battery isnt getting any charge to it and even with no lights or anything on it still dies, if i then leave it 15/20 mins it will start again but then does exactly the same thing... can you help?

It takes electrical power to run the ignition system on your bike. If your alternator is not providing that power it must come from the battery. When the battery is out of power, the bike dies. You have a problem in your bikes electrical system. MOST likely is a faulty battery, but could also be alternator or other piece in the system.

Motorcycle dies after 5min


If it's dying that quick because the battery went dead, it might be a charging problem.

Get a MultiMeter:

Make sure the battery is charged, and start the bike.

Put the multimeter leads across the battery terminals (red to +, black to -)
You should be getting 13-14 volts, with the voltage increasing as you rev the motor.

If not, either an alternator or voltage regulator problem.

IF the battery is going flat in that time WITHOUT the motor running, you have a "parasitic" drain somewhere, that is draining the battery when it's off.

I have a 1992 yamaha fzr 600 turn the key nothing charge it nothing bump start it it runs for about 2min then dies no power getting to the bike dose not engage nothing it was running last week help!!


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
10. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

My fzr 600 won't hold charge.


Hi, Anonymous in order to check out any main system electrical circuit, you have to start with a fully charged battery 12.5 volts or better, and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
1. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
2. Check the voltage drop at the battery when you hit the starter button, anything below 9 volts you might have a faulty battery.
3. Check voltage at the battery with the bike running at 3,600 RPM should be 14.3 to 14.7 volts. If you are not getting these numbers, you might have a faulty voltage regulator.
4. Make sure voltage regulator is "GROUNDED" and functioning properly, watch the video below on how to test a voltage regulator.
5. Unplug the connector to the alternator and hook your multimeter leads to the alternator (pin/socket selection does not matter) set the multimeter to AC volts, at an idle the meter should read 16 to 20 volts AC. at 2,000 RPM 32 to 40 AC volts, 3,000 RPM 48 to 60 AC volts. If you are not getting these numbers, you may have a faulty rotor, follow step 6
6. Set the multimeter to OHM'S, connect one lead to the alternator (any pin/socket) and the other to a ground, the meter should read infinity. Connect both leads to the alternator meter should read 0.1 to 0.2 OHM'S. If you are not getting these numbers, you have a bad stator.
7. Check all wiring in the charging circuit for worn or chaffed spots and all wiring connectors in the circuit for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets, which is the # 1 offender.

I have a 1996 fzr 600 , it shut off going down the road , went to start bile. But batt was completely dead , pushed it off it ran for about a mile or two n died , bike is not charging at all could this be...

My 90 fzr 1000 bogs and dies after warming and gas drips.


Check the float in the carb isnt stuck and is correctly adjusted.

Fzr600 91 model power keeps dying when light on


Are you saying that the battery still discharges when you run with the lights on?
Assuming that the battery itself is good (has it been replaced?) then you may have a problem with the stator.

Start by measuring the voltage across the battery with the engine running and with the lights on - if it is less than 13.5V, then there is still a problem with the charging circuit.
If it does measure that (or better) then your battery is unable of sustaining a charge and should be replaced

Yamaha FZR 600 not charging correctly with the lights on


I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. CHECK YOUR VOLTAGE OFF O THE MAGNETO, IT SHOULD BE IN THE 25V RANGE. IF THAT CHECKS OUT OK CK THE VOLTAGE IMEDIATLY AFTER THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR, I BET IT IS BELOW 14V. THE FZR IS PRONE TO HAVING THE REGULATOR GO BAD (THE OLDER ONES HAVE NO COOLING FINS AND THEY BURN THEMSELVES UP). THE BEST ONE TO BUY IS THE NEWER VERSION FROM A 1999 FZR, IT HAS COOLING FINS WHICH GREATLY PROLONGS THE LIFE. YOU HAVE TO DO SOME SLIGHT WIRING MODS, BUT NOTHING ANYONE COULDN'T DO. SEARCH FOR FZR REGULATOR UPGRADE AND IT WILL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING! I HOPE THIS HELPS! GOOD LUCK!

Not charging battery


what we need to do is find out if your stator isnt working or if your regulator is bad
you need a volt meter on the ac scale and check across the battery with the engine off and with the engine running and with it running and with the lights on
let me know what you have for readings
