Question about 2004 Honda CRF 450 R

1 Answer

2004 CRF450R Ok so the bike back fires like crazy when i start. Now for the last three years this bike has been perfect. It has a white brothers pipe, I have jetted the bike for the pipe this is all old news. The bike has been sitting for a year. The last time it has been ridden is 1 year ago. So i took the carb off and went through it, cleaned all the jets and went through it throughly. I checked the valve clearances they were perfect, checked the timing it was perfect. I oamed the coil it was .4 and tolerance is .1 - .3 I am not sure if this is the problem. So for fun I changed my main jet to a 180 and turned my pilot screw out 3 turns, it ran better for 3 minutes and went back to the same to blowing flames out of the exhaust.

Could be as simple as a new spark plug needed.

Backfiring and trouble starting

If you change the exhaust pipes, you have to sync the carbs (if you cant sync them, you have to change the carb jets), usually it is backfiring because the carbs are not in balance.

HELLO i have a 1987 vt1100c shadow and got got the in april this year. Know my budy tels thay are sceanin eagel pipes..when i let off the gas or gear down it back fires like crazy. Is this normal

If the engine is properly tuned, mainly the will NOT POP through the exhaust. If it was "normal" it would do it with the stock pipes. This is not good for the engine and will lead to more severe damage if not corrected. Riders think it's cool and it makes the bike faster to have loud pipes, but few understand it actually hurts the performance and the engine if not done correctly. I hope this helps & good luck with the shadow.

I have a 2003 honda shadow 750... problem is every time i start the bike it will only run with choke even when its warmed up and when i ride the pipes back fire like crazy... it just hasn't been...

THose symptoms are those of a bike with clogged / gummed up carbs. At this point you will need to remove the carbs, completely disassemble them, and soak the bodies in a quality carb cleaning solution, overnight.

I have a yamaha dirt bike that someone stole and

Check the igniter. Go back to the dealer and ask him to see one. Then go back and find it on your bike. Yamaha's usually have them under the seat, or left side. But I don't know exactly what year you have. Run the VIN on the frame under my tips and tricks is a web site that'll break it down for you.
