Hi ..... What are your symptoms ? The front switch is part of the righthand switch gear, is it's defective/broken, normally the brake light stays on.

My 883 Harley turn signals, speedometer and brake light it not working? could it be a fuse and could you tell me where they are located?

Hi Anonymous, 1998 and later Sportster models circuit breaker and fuses were located in an electrical bracket behind the starter relay and data link that was mounted behind the left side panel. 1997 and earlier circuit breakers only no fuses were located under the seat and for a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck.

Brake light swich on 2008 FLHTCU where is it located

Hi Garysouza23, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below. Good luck and have nice day.

Where is front break switch located

Front brake light switch is located next to the hand lever for the brake. Look underneath and you should see two wires attached to a little black box. This is the mirco switch.

Rear brake switch is attached near the pivot point for the rear brake lever.
You should see two wires attached to a long cylindrical switch with a spring off one end. This is your brake light switch for the rear brakes. It may not need changing out, these are usually adjustable. As you screw them out, they make the brake light come on sooner, as you screw them in the take longer to come on.

Your front switch might need replacing, but another good idea is to check your wires for damage.

Break light doesnt work on back break only works on front

The rear brake light is operated by a pressure switch located underneath the bike. Find the metal brake line that comes out of the master cylinder and heads back towards the rear wheel. Somewhere in the line there is a "tee fitting" with the pressure switch screwed into it. Replace this switch.

Good Luck

Sounds like a Relay malfunction. Remove your left side cover, remove the fuse box cover, loosen the 4 left saddlebag bolts. There are 2 8mm at the bottom and 2 8mm in the upper saddlebag. Grab the saddle bag and pull it out far enough to remove the Relay Cover next to the Fuse box. On the back side of the cover you will see the descriptions of all the relays. One will identify operating the items related to your problem. Switch the relay with the Air Compressor Relay because you don't use the Compressor as a necessity to operate your system. Replace the Relay that can be purchased from your Honda Dealer or you can cheat by purchasing a Pilot Fog light Relay from Auto Zone that is a 30 amp that is identical except you will have to break off the tabs and file down the residue to fit behind the cover. The Honda 20 amp Relay will cost $30 and the Auto Zone will cost $8. You can test the Relay by connecting 12 volts to the 2 side terminals and check the continuity on the other terminals with an OHM meter. If you get nothing it's bad.

Break tail light stays on all the time? where is the swich

There are two switches. One is on the right handlebar switch housing. It is operated by the front brake lever. When you pull the lever, it pivots on a pin which causes the backside of the lever to move forward. There is a tap on the backside of the lever that presses the front brake light switch turning the brake light off. When you pull the lever, the tab moves forward and releases the switch turning the light on. Now, if the light stays on, you can loosen the bolts that hold the front brake master cylinder onto the handlebars, slide the front brake master cylinder down as close to the right handlebar switch housing as possible. If this doesn't turn the light off, this switch my be bad or the lever has too much wear in it and should be replaced.

There is another switch in the system for the rear brake. Follow the metal brake line coming out of the rear of the rear brake master cylinder and you'll come to a "Tee fitting" with a pressure switch in it. This is the rear brake light switch. Usually when it goes bad, the brake lights will not come on, not light up all time. But, then I'm pretty sure that I haven't seen everytig. Test the switch for contineuity using an obm meter.

Good Luck

No brake light

Use a multi meter to test operation and continuity from the switch backwards.

Be methodical and logical and you will eventually find the break in the circuit.
