We dyno'ed mine and got 106 hp at the rear wheel, can't remember the torque, that was on a stock bike running 93 octane fuel. It's a great bike, wish it had a 6 speed transmission, but other than that I love this thing.

What about the ignition control box? It is electronic and they do fail. especially on a bike with a Big Twin. Electronics don't like vibration, it only needs one contact to have a dry joint to cause the failure of the entire box.

I have a 16 horse v twin on my power washer, every time i pull the trigger the engine slow down

When you pull the trigger the motor comes under load as the pump starts to work at full pressure. Check for throttle control and setting for engine speed under load.

Mate, what you are describing an Engine trouble warning light.
This warning light comes on or flashes when an electrical circuit monitoring the engine is defective. When this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer check the self-diagnosis system.

What it does is to tell you something is wrong in your various electrical circuits.

If any of those circuits are defective, the engine trouble warning light will come on, and then the multi-function display will indicate a two-digit error code (e.g., 11, 12, 13).

If the multi-function display indicates such an error code, note the code number, and then have a Yamaha dealer check the motorcycle.

As all those require a specialized testing tool I would recommend you to take it to a dealer unless you know what you're looking for.

Good luck and don't 4get to rate the advise. Cheers

It seems like a lot of slop in engine to drive train

It is very typical (and intensely annoying) that when you transition from accelerating — however slightly — to decelerating — however slightly — there is a big bounce as if there is enormous slop in the drive train.

Every motorcyle I have ever had (Kawasaki 175 2-stroke, Honda CB350 twin, Yamaha 650 twin, Yamaha 750 special and Suzuki GS 850), and every motorcycle I have ever driven (Honda CB 50, Yamaha Mini-Enduro 60, Honda Hawk 400, Kawasaki 750 LTD, Yamaha Virago 650, Yamaha Virago 750) has had this “feature.”

    Hi christina

They did build a XJ550 (in line 4, not V) in the early eighties, But that's the only road bike 550 that yamaha made. Check it out here.

Hope that helps solve your puzzle :)
