I changed the transmission on a jeep Cherokee 1994 4drive. It worked fine. I parked it for the night. The next day, it did not work. The engine refused to start. It seems that the spark plugs were not activated. Any ideas what could be causing this?

I had the same problem drove me crazy I got pissed and started buying parts I changed the Starter and it was fixed go figure. It can be a lot of problems causing this, but if nothing else take the starter off and take it to advance, autozone or somewhere like this have it tested if it is the starter it cost me about 80 bucks and 30 minutes of my time. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi!
Could this be an Immobiliser problem? or Gear Inhibitor switch?
If the vehicle is Automatic try running the selector back and forth into neutral and try again? no luck? try park.
Does your vehicle have a Immobiliser fob/key? if key type does the light stop blinking/go out when inserted? if a fob are the batteries o.k.? also has the fob been dropped or become damp? (It may need re-coding @ Chrysler Dealer).
Finally if all these check out then I would be looking for a possible fuse blow then onto to Starter or solenoid.
All bases covered there. Me thinks you are going to be busy? I'm sure you'll sort it.
Good Luck!

Try running the gear selector through all the gears then back into park. If the same thing happens then set your emergency brake, place the gear selector in neutral, while pressing on the brake pedal try to start it. If this works you may have to replace the switch that senses when it is in park. Good Luck

I turn the key on and nothing no ign lights dash lights nothing 2004 F-150

Check Battery Connections:
First, ensure that your battery connections are tight. Loose or corroded connections can prevent power from reaching the necessary components.
Try removing the battery cables and leaving them disconnected for about 15 minutes. Then, reconnect them to reset the system.

Steering Wheel Position:
Make sure the steering wheel is locked and that the transmission is completely in the park or neutral position. Sometimes, if the steering wheel isn't fully locked, it can interfere with starting the vehicle.

Ignition and Dash Lights:
If there are no ignition lights or dash lights when you turn the key, it could be due to several reasons:
Dead Battery: Most likely, a dead battery is the culprit. Even if the lights and accessories work, a weak battery may not provide enough power to start the engine.

Starter Relay or Solenoid: If there's no sound when you turn the key (not even a click), it might be an issue with the starter relay or starter solenoid.

Body Control Module, Instrument Cluster, or ECM: There could be a bad connection in the connectors to these modules. Try disconnecting the battery, then apply dielectric lube to the connectors before reconnecting it.

Fuse and Wiring Check:
Inspect the fuses related to the ignition system. A blown fuse could be causing the issue.
Also, check for any wiring issues that might disrupt the electrical flow.

Remember that diagnosing car problems can be complex, and it's often best to consult a professional mechanic or take your truck to a Ford dealer.

Batteries full turn the key on nothing at the key switch does the key fob need to be working with the battery inside of it

It's possible that the key fob battery needs to be working in order for the key switch to function properly, especially if your vehicle has an electronic security system. Some key fobs are designed to work in conjunction with the vehicle's immobilizer system, which prevents the engine from starting without the correct key fob being present. If the key fob battery is dead, it may prevent the immobilizer system from recognizing the key and allow the engine to start.

However, there may be other reasons why the key switch is not working, such as a faulty ignition switch, a blown fuse, or a dead starter motor. If you have already confirmed that the battery is fully charged, you may need to have your vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and repair the problem.

How to fix 2004 Suzuki 1600?

A few questions so I can help. Is this a Suzuki motorbike or a car? What EXACTLY does it do when you turn the key? How did you 'check for electric'? A vehicle battery should have between 12.6volts to 13.2 volts.
When you turn a starter motor over it needs a large amount of volts to power it, anything under 10 volts and it will struggle. Even a fully charged battery can struggle to turn a starter motor if it is old or faulty.
Try this. First look at the battery and check the terminals are clean and tight. Sometimes it can be as easy as that. Turn the key and look and listen carefully. Try to start the engine. Do you get absolutely nothing and no dash lights? Do you get dash lights which go off when you start the bike but you only get a quiet 'Click'? Do you get dash lights which go off and then a louder 'Clunk'? Does the engine turn over but it's very slow and lazy?
Absolutely nothing suggests a dead or totally flat battery and a lazy, slow starter is a low charge in the battery. A Quiet click could be the Starter Relay and a louder 'Clunk' could be the starter solenoid or the starter itself.

2016 ford edge wont start

no sound = check for battery connection. Turning on lights to see if they are bright or dim helps to find out if your battery is fully charged or not. If you get nothing, it might be a dead battery, or like I stated, just a poor connection. Start with the simple thing first. Battery connection..

I have a 2010 Hyundai Veracruz had dead battery was dead, tried to jump start, no luck battery is fully recharged. Turning on key all dash lights and gauges works but nothing when key is turned on. N

If you are sure the battery is charged and nothing happens when you turn the key you have a poor wiring connection somewhere or possibly an poor connection internal to the battery. First, turn on the headlights, then try to start the car. If the headlights go dim when you do that, you have a bad connection. If they stay bright, you are not completing the starting circuit. The most likely cause is a bad battery post connection. Remove the terminals and clean them to shiny metal then replace and try again. If that does not work try it again with a new battery.

Your battery is toast. It may read 12.6volts but does not store the power it needs start the car. Get a new battery.

My 1998 ford escort stop running no lights

start with the battery. needs at least 11 or 12 volts to start the car. By no lights, do you mean nothing, absolutely nothing comes on? no lights on dash when you turn key to on? If so, need to check battery connections. are they both tight and clean? Is battery fully charged? Before you can diagnose the car you musthave a good battery that is fully charged. Then you can try and start it. If it still wont start or crank over you may have a main fuse out that would be under hood near battery.

Nothing happens when I turn the key

The battery is dead, or the battery cables are loose. Try adjusting/tightening the battery cables first. If that doesn't work, the battery is dead or just discharged. Try to find someone that will give you a jump. Good luck.
