I cant get the clutch to engage

Hi assuming you put the clutch back togethere in correct order you remove it does the clutch lever have end play in it when you releace it there should be some play in it if there is not you need to loosen it ether at the lever holder or at the set screw where the cable on the engine case lossen it then turn it until it lighly stops then back it off quarter of a turn.

Cable snapped and I put in new cable but cant get the gear to ingage.

If, we're talking about your clutch cable, you need to regulate it, either by the bolts down to the gear box, or up at your left grip by the twisting distance screw.
The best way to do it right, is FIRST, spray down to your cable enough penetrating oil, that will help it slip easily. Locate the cable to the gear knee that comes out of the box, (there should be two bolts) and unscrew the one that's between the knee and the black protective of the cable, until the point that you pull your clutch grip, and you get a few mm, of "dead" motion and then gets tight. When you get that, tighten the bolts, and you're probable done. Remember, that the twisting distance screw at your grip, must be toghten, no space. Cause from there later you'll be adjusting the free space before pressing the clutch.
Quite easy. Should be done in no more that 5 min. Good luck

Its a 1985 klt 160 5 spd. I cant figure out why it does not have a clutch to shift through the gears. Is it supposed to shift some other way?

I had this atc new in 1985.No clutch needed just shift gears, for reverse to work shift to nuetral lift red lever up on gear box and shift up to put in reverse.I miss mine a lot ,grandfather bought it new for me and I sat there as he wrote the check for $1423.00 at midway honda kawasaki in chicago. These were only made in 1985 and very rare so dont sell it..

My 1988 rm80k gears are out of order because the shifter slipped out of position when the case was open.. so i have no idea what order theyre supposed to be in.

Bummer on the gears. The best I can suggest, other than taking a box of parts to a Suzuki dealer, is to go to
to see a parts diagram of your gearbox. Match what you have with the diagram and you should be okay. Be sure to install new crank bearings and seals while you have it apart.

My speedo dosnt work i know the problem but i cant find the part its the part at the end of the cable(cant really describe it) any help appreciated

At the lower end of the cable is the speedometer drive gear box. At the upper end of the cable is the speedometer. Usually, it's the cable that breaks, but sometimes (perhaps this is what happened to your's) the gear box becoms dried out and the worm gear inside it will wear out. You can't buy the gears by themselves, so you will have to replace the whole speedo drive gear box assembly. Likewise, if any part of the speedo cable is broken, you've got to replace the whole cable.

Gear Selecting

it might be your gears which are worn out and causing gear slips.. but there is high probability of your clutch plates getting spoilt.. the clutch plated work as disengaging the gears shaft to the main engine shaft.. sometimes when the clutch plates are very much use enough..,they stop working and cant retain to disengage the gears.. so first of all get your clutch checked well and then preoceed if it doesn't fix your problem.. heyii there is a shaft coming ut of the engine crank that connects to your transmission shaft which drives your gears and hence wheels.. so your 2nd gear must have worn out and for that reason the gear isn't working well.. get your gear box opened and check the gear.. Splitt of the gear box

Unfortunately everything needs to be taken off to spit it .... you cant just take one side off Also .. as your doing gears .. I believe you will need a gear puller to take the gear shaft apart and probably a press to put it back together.
