I must respectfully disagree with the answer below. There is no dipstick since the the Touareg has "lifetime" fluid. When my Touareg reach 150,000 miles I decided to replace the transmission fluid myself. To do this you remove the coverplate under the transmission. I bough a cheap plastic fluid pump at the local auto parts store and pumped out the old fluid. I have to admit, even with 150,000 miles the fluid looked pretty good.

Once it was drained, I removed the entire pan underneath the transmission so I could clean it (I did find a small amount of metal debris in the pan). I replaced the gasket while I reinstalled the pan.

Once the pan is back you use the pump to pump new fluid up into the transmission. IMPORTANT, there is a valve that opens when the temperature of the fluid is over 30 deg C (86 Deg F), which allows more fluid to be filled into the pan. When the fluid is topped off the fluid will spill out of the port.

Good luck!

SOURCE: where do i fill transmission fluid on 2002 volkswagen passat

No fluids are consumed in any vehicle

Thinking something you know nothing about
& the real issues, should be addressed at a repair
shop or trans shop

If it is low on trans fluid, then most likely
the damage is done already, based on your
description.

If it is low, then at the very least, you repair the leak,
not just add fluid

On your steering wheel there is a button bottom right it should look like two squares. That is the menu button. Scroll through the menu settings until Time appears. Push in on the thumb wheel above the menu button to select. After that roll the wheel up or down to adjust the time and press in when finished.

SOURCE: How do you refill transmission

You will need a large mechanics seringe. There will be filling plug above the drain plug .May be on front or the rear of your gearbox.
With the seringe **** up the fluid from a container and insert in the filling hole.Once the gearbox is full ,you will see fluid coming out of the filling hole.Thats the level and job done.

Confused does anyone have a pic where you add transmission oil on a Volkswagen Touareg 2005

The transmission is sealed, you need a dealer to do this as it requires special equipment.

I have a 2005 vw Touareg. the coolant reservoir suddenly bursted while i was trying to check for the cause of its reving high. what could have caused this?

I had this happen on my '05 Touareg. There is a separate cooler for the transmission fluid. Mine rusted through, and once the fluid was out, the engine revved because the transmission couldn't engage.

Hi Iv just bought a Volkswage Touareg 07 plate 3liter v6 and the emission control light has come on the dash. I got a diagnostic check done today at the local garage and it's showing fault code 212597 can...

That code must be unique to VW because it has no relationship to the obd, eobd and jobd codes required by law which all ordinary mortals must use.

Generic codes have universal meanings and are known as PO codes.
Some codes are model specific and are known as P codes or are plain numbers but I haven't known any with so many digits.

Which codes are used depends on the diagnostic equipment that is available and the amount of model specific information available.
Sorry I can't help further. I feel you need to approach a specialist or to post your question on a forum dedicated to your type of vehicle.

Type of transmission oil for 2001 VW PASSAT

the trans fluid can only be serviced through a standpipe in the pan with car in the air and trans at an exact temp,<needs to be on a monitor computer> it also uses special fluid not any of the normal fluids. this fluid is suposed to be "lifetime" fluid that doesn't need servicing unless there is a leak or a trans failure.
