SOURCE: Suzuki GT380 coils hot

Hi. I had a similar problem on an old Suzuki GS550. It use to start and run for a set time and then cut out and would not start until it cooled down for about 4/5 minuets. Then it would start and do the same, and the coils seemed to get quite hot. In my case it was the rectifier. Hope this is of help to you. Regards Tony.

Suzuki dr 125 1984 running hot on standstill, sluggish when rip throttle back and over heating and spark plug keeps going black any ideas thanks bike hasnt been on the road for 7 years just got it running...

Running hot? Isnt this an air cooled engine? Have you drained the old fuel and put in fresh fuel? The black on the plug tells me its running rich, and that the carb will probably need to come off and be cleaned out. Also, add a inline fuel filter if at all possible.
