My Chana 1300 star does not idle after starting?

Reasons for stalling at idle speed: Check the following:
- Spark plug gaps. (0.9-1.0 mm).
- Fuel pump pressure. (38-44 psi).
- Element air cleaner for clogged.
- Valve clearance.
- Cylinder compression.
- Clean the throttle body, free up the idle air control valve and perform idle speed relearning.
- Vacuum leaks around the intake manifold.
- PCV valve stuck closed.

hi there jaybolt

here is a website for parts

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=echo&mn=SRM-2100+Type+1+S%2FN%3A+001001+-+159490

all being well and compression and spark and timming , muffler is clear , carby is clean , and diaphrams are all ok you mention carb rebuilt , fresh mix , and fuel filter and lines are good

does the unit run with 2 stroke mix in the plug hole - then stop ?
if yes assume compression and spark are ok,, if no check compression and spark and muffler

will the unit run with 2 stroke mix sprayed into the carby throat, then stop ?

if it does sounds like you have a air leak somewhere in the intake system

could be at barrel base gasket, c/case joint, manifold boot/ block gasket, carby gasket , impulse hose ,if this unit has one , c/case main seals leaking

2 strokes need air tight c/cases in order to pump fuel / air / oil mixture from c/case to cylinder
and to create a vacuum for entry of fuel/ air / oil mix from carb to c/case

symptoms of air leak are -: hard to start, wont idle, stalling, low power, inconsistant idle, over rev
overheat

pressure and vacuum testing can be done by blocking off intake and exhaust with rubber and metal plates , then fitting adapter to spark plug hole , and placing piston at bdc , pressureise cylinder to 7 to 8 psi of pressure and check areas , base gasket, manifold joint, main seals, , impulse hose ? for leaks with soapy water - if leaking bubbles will be evident

if no leaks and pressure is held at 7 psi for at least 2 minutes with dropping - presure test is good
next do the same test using vaccuum again go to 20 - 30 inch / vaccuum

if vaccuum held unit is ok

suggest take a good look at carby and recheck its rebuilt correctly and setup particularly if P and V test are good and spark coil tests good with a coil load test using a spark gap of 6.00 mm to stress the coil ( simulates spark under compression load)

have a look and let me know what you find

now is the time to start checking for vacuum leaks. I just fixed a 96 F-150 today with a cracked intake manifold. Look at all of your vacuum lines under the hood, that may include lines to the vacuum booster, the pcv valve, the egr valve, the air box, and in rare cases, even the battery box. If you can't find any leaks there, get a can of ether, start the truck, and spray it at the points where the intake meets the heads. If the RPM revs high or dips really low, you have a leak either in the manifold itself (like a crack) or the gasket has failed and it's time for a new one. I hope this helps.

The bike as not been used for two year carbs are clean new plugs engine no NC25E-1402627, Starts well rev's to about 2000rpm then starts to backfire and will not rev higher, would like to check the valve...

Intake valve clearance .04mm

Exhaust valve clearance .06mm

Good idea, some motors are worn a bit, so even at factory settings they may work but you'll here the tapping which means the valves would need to be adjusted tighter. to say .03mm & .05 mm

The valves could operate up and down good but not be seating = Needs Valves lapped in.
Do a leak down test to determine which is leaking.

Loose battery connections that vibrate at higher rpms can cause breakdown.

A faulty CDI that won't advance will make it back fire.

I agree with your decision to check your valve clearances first. Make sure all wires are good and tight.

2002 suzuki drz 400 wont idle last time i rode the bike it ran fine about 2 months ago. I changed the plug ,no differents I rebuild the carb still no differents so what the hell.

Low compression will affect the engine's ability to idle. So, check the compression. You need to see at least 140 psi of compression in order for it to idle well. Low compression can be caused by insufficient valve tappet clearance. If the valves are adjusted properely and the compression is still low, then there's internal engine work that needs to be done.
If the compression checks good, then you've either got plugged up jets in the carburetor, or an air leak between the carb and the engine that is preventing it from idling.

The bike starts up but will not rev up when

Has it been sitting for a long time (a year or more)? If so, then the carburetors are plugged with fuel varnish and need to be disassembled and cleaned out. If it runs better with the choke on, this is a sure sign that the carbs are plugged.
If it hasn't been is storage, then try draining the fuel from the float bowls. Sometimes an accumulation of water in them will get to the point that fuel will no longer be drawn through the jets. Also make sure that the valve tappet clearances are set correctly and make sure there are no air leaks between the carburetors and the engine (with the engine idling, spray WD-40 around the intake manifolds, any change in idle speed indicates an air leak).
Finally, if all of the above fails to remedy the problem, perform a compression check on the engine. With the throttle wide open, you should see at least 140 psi of compression in each cylinder. Less than that means the engine needs serious mechanical attention.

Truck idles rough but at higher RPM runs fine. Checked codes and it is randomly misfiring on all cylinders. Also every now and then when changing gears revs up on its own and even at a stop engine revs up,...

Sounds like either the EGR valve is leaking ( if it is it will be very hot), or you have a serious vacuum leak, take a can of carb spray, and spray around the intake manifold and see if the idle smooths out if it does you will need to repair the vacuum leak, it could be a vacuum hose or the intake itself leaking.
