Might need to check the main circuits for a blown fuse or fuseable link.
There is a fuse wire between the alternator and battery.

I removed the stereo from my 1993 geo prizm and now I turn the key and nothing happens?

Removing the stereo should have no effect on starting the car. Was the dome light on/door open while you were doing this? Possible dead battery. Try giving the vehicle a boost and see what happens

Replacing voltage regulator in mercury grand marquis

CChange battery and clean the terminals. The alternator is not designed to be your main power supply - it just keeps your battery charged - which is your primary power supply

Hello. My 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis died on the highway after the battery "alternator?" light coming on about 20 minutes prior. We replaced the alternator with a rebuilt and the light is STILL...

A ford needs a fully charged battery to work the alternator. You may burn out the replacement alternator by hooking it up to a dead battery. Get the battery charged and have it load tested. You may have a bad battery and it should be checked. http://www.cardone.com/english/club/select/electrical/protech/tech_bulletins/PT37-0006.pdf

Replacing a Starter on a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis

Disconnect the battery positive terminal. Disconnect the wire going to the start. Unbolt the 2 13mm bolts holding in the starter, one on top, one on the bottom. You may have to move the starter around a little to get it out.

Car starts when boosted but wont start by itself after tuning it off. Is it the battery or alternator?

It could be either. The alternator feeds electrical charge to the battery. Easiest way to tell is spend the 100 bucks and replace the battery. Even if your alternator is good, some batteries will not hold a charge even when boosted.

If that doesn't work try to get a used or rebuilt alternator.
Personally I would take it to a shop and have them check it first. You could have a solenoid issue and your battery and alternator are fine.
There could aslo be an electrical short in the wiring harness that is causing a draw on your battery.

Battery shows good, nothing happens when turn

Try to boost the car with another. If that works charge the battery and check the charging system, if it doesn't then you may need a starter.

98 grand marquis alternator

That would be the first guess, but fortunately this is easy to test. What other electronics are running at the same time? If you take it to autozone they can test the alternator and battery for free and let you know for certain. I hope this helps.

1990 Mercury Grand Marquis- charging system failing.

Have you checked the positive connection from battery to starter? this connection has another feed that runs the rest of the car. Its either loose or corroded. Take battery terminals off and soak in baking soda, water and 2 drops of dishwashing detergent. If any corrosion is present this mixture will foam and remove your corrosion.

Its odd that car dies Are you sure you do not have a dead cell in the battery?
