Question about Motorcycles
Bike will not start. It has compression and i just put a new spark plug in it. Previous owner said bike ran when he put it away. He also said it has been sitting for several months with out being started. What should I do? The carburator may need to be cleaned? How do I go about getting this to run? Help!
Start with the carbs. Old gas is a carb killer. Probably the lowest Jets in teh carb bowls are gummed up.

SOURCE: my keeway wont start
Check the fuses. Is the kill switch on or shorting out? Disconnect it and then check for spark. Sidestand/centerstand should be up, Got a good battery?
I am unfamiliar with your Keeway and just trying to help. Don't give me a bad rating if I miss the mark on this one. Thanks.

sounds like carbs not cleaned right, oh try changing fuel filter, does fuel pump run constantly. if you cant hear it you can feel it, up behind the ignition. Berrymans B12 fuel additive works wonders. double dose add to gas run bike til hot then let stand overnight, pray a lot and try it again.
here is a free pdf service manual too http://www.carlsalter.com/aaman/Yamaha_VSTAR_650_MAIN_MAN.pdf

The spark plug is in the center of the cylinder head you will have to remove the gas tank to get to it. When you change the plug put a little gas down the hole that should help it start after sitting for so long.
