Need fuel filter part number and/or aftermarket brand

The bike runs fine at low speed, but on the freeway it acts as if running out of fuel.

There are so many different things that can make the bike do that. The fuel pump could be going out(VERY COMMON) or you could have a dirty AIR FILTER causing the restriction. if the fuel filter was the problem you would more than likely have some backfiring or popping coming from the engine. Need more info to diagnose it. However if you want any parts - Harley Davidson and American sportbikes are a few of the only places to get em.

Try spraying carb cleaner on throttle body then check. If its running smooth then its fuel pump related issue. The fuel filter is either clogged or fuel pump is the cause of problem.Running rough actually indicates towards fuel pump issue. But still get it checked by spraying carb cleaner on throttle body.------ also recheck the heat sensor connections are they getting burnt or loose. If all getting checked ok, then it can be ECU related issue. But first check the fuel pump, filter, heat sensor connections. Also re check if the error code is changed. As you mentioned the buell runs fine with throttle open, it can be tps related error.Tps means throttle position sensor. ----------- If all checked ok, then yes it can be ECU.---------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

2017 Bajaj Pulsar 150 how to get better fuel economy

Hi, Anonymous the following tips are low cost easy to apply/install and guaranteed to give you better gas mileage and a smoother running bike. The average motorcycle gets 56-64 KMPL. saving .2 Litre of gas could save you a 10 Kilometer walk. 125cc scooters have been known to get 185 KMPL.and more.
1. Proper tire inflation as per MFG. specifications wheels should be balanced and spokes tight.
2. Oil and coolant levels maintained at full marks, low levels produce excessive heat that causes the engine to work harder and reduces efficiency.
3. Keep extra weight to a minimum.
4. Take off from a dead stop should be smooth and easy throttle applied avoid excessive throttle snaps.
5. Smaller windshields get better KMPH than large ones, wind resistance increases as a square of the speed at which you're traveling. For example, at 112 KMPH, wind resistance is double what it is at 80 KMPH (70 squared is almost twice as much as 50 squared). That will dramatically reduce your mileage. Keep that in mind while biking.
6. Keep idle time to a bare minimum or turn off the engine.
7. Re-jet carburetor with a smaller main and mid-range jet.
8. Keep chain/belt properly adjusted.
9. Avoid quick braking, hasty acceleration, high-speed driving, try driving the speed limit and keep a constant speed.
10. On long trips use freeways or flat straight stretches of highways rather than city or rural routes avoid hills and mountains when possible.
11. Keep your engine clean, dirt and grease/oil hold in heat.
12. A full-face helmet is more aerodynamic than other types of helmets. Any other clothing that decreases your aerodynamic should be reconsidered.
13. Any unnecessary bling on your bike is going to decrease fuel efficiency.
14. Use high-quality fuel using low-quality fuel can cause sludge in your fuel injectors.
15. Keep warm up time to a minimum get off the choke ASAP.
16. Motorcycles run best when their engines are maintained, and that includes making sure the air filter is clean, the spark plugs are fresh, the fuel filter is free, and the timing/valves are adjusted.

2000 Buell Blast runs great around town. Freeway speeds runs for 3 to 5 miles then out of nowhere dies. Acts like it's running out of fuel then dies. I have pulled the carb and cleaned the jets. C

If it starts up after sitting for a few minutes, (like 2 or 3) it could have a plugged fuel filter or the gas tank strainer built into the fuel valve could be plugged too. Drain the gastank anyway and change the gas with fresh. can't hurt. If it takes 15-30 minutes or after the bike cools some I would look at an ignition coil. Check to see if it has spark next time it quits.

Because of the higher voltages run in bikes nowdays to meet fuel regulations, spark plugs are often a big problem.Drop a new set of plugs in .It's the easiest and cheapest place to start. No dealers to rip you off.If this is not the problem,it would suprise me.Hope this helps

SOUND LIKE FUEL FILTER OR WEAK PUMP.IF YOU HAVE CARBURETOR FUEL FILTER IN REAR UNDER THE CAR IN FRONT OF SPARE TIRE FRONT IN LINE FILTER IS LOCATED AT THE CARBURETOR.IF YOU HAVE FUEL INJECTION ENGINE FUEL FILTER LOCATION IS ON FIREWALL IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.IF FILTER CHANGE DONT STOP STALLING PROBLEM COULD BE IDLE SPEED TOO LOW AND FUEL PUMP TOO WEAK NOT PUMPING ENOUGH FUEL FOR HIGH SPEED DRIVING.

Put a can of a product called "Seafoam" in the gas tank. Also do the following procedure.

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Riding to work bike with no problems acts like

fuel system may need to have solids (trash or water) removed.Clean tank, hoses and filter. If you find trash in any of these, the carbs are next to be cleaned out.

When ridden hard bike will splutter or miss but runs fine on low revs

Fuel supply running out. Usually clogged filter. that allows enough gas through to run at lower rpms but not at high demand. Could be filter in tank, there is a mesh screen on the inlet to the fuel petcock. You would have to have some serious issues with rust in the tank or a batch of extremely bad gas for this to happen. I would look to see if you have an inline filter, I have no knowledge of that particular bike.

Are there any codes in the pcm?
There are quite a few things that could cause this;
Make sure the battery cables are tight and clean.
If you have a way to do it, need to find out what the fuel pressure is at when it is acting up.
Dose it miss at all or just loose rpm's and die, no matter what you do? (meaning can you keep it alive by pressing the gas peddle)

To me it sounds like your new fuel pump is loosing pressure while running for a while. But try and get a pressure reading and post back, that will give us something to rule out, or to address.
I think the light flicker you are talking about is just low engine rpm's?

blocked carbs, get a good fuel system cleaner, if you in USA get Berrymans B12, double the dose and mix in tank. run til hot then leave to stand overnight. also if you can remove the air cleaner to get to carb intake, get spray carb cleaner an chuck a load in there. also check to see if you have a fuel filter inline
