SOURCE: just changed the rear tire and need help getting

If you have the wheel properly installed, putting the rear brake back on the bike should not be a problem. The brake caliper bracket should act as the wheel spacer on the right side of the bike and must be properly positioned in order to get the axle back in.

With the caliper bracket on the bike, make sure the brake pads are properly positioned in the caliper bracket. Double check to see that the pads are not installed backwards, especially on the back side of the rotor. Carefully, slide the caliper down over the pads, without distrurbing them, and into the caliper bracket. If this is giving you a problem, you may have to press the piston in the caliper back into the the caliper just a bit to clear the pads. If you replaced the pads with new pads, press the piston all the way back into the caliper. I usually use a large pair of slip joint pliers or a large C-clamp to do this with. Make sure you put a rag or something around the caliper to protect the paint. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Where is the oil drain plug on 2007 Heritage

Look at the bottom of the oil tank from the right side of the bike. You'll see one hose or pipe that goes downwards towards the back of the transmission. The hose will follow the frame and come out way down low on the backside of and slightly under the transmission. There is a plug in the hose or pipe. Take the plug out and the oil tank will drain.

To change the oil, drain the tank, change the oil filter, refill with three quarts of oil in the tank. You also have oil in your primary that should be changed every 5000 miles or so, and the transmission serviced at the same interval as the primary.

To drain the oil on the primary, there is a drain plug under the primary case at the very rear of the case. Remove this to drain the case. Refill the primary through the derby cover. Fill with oil until the level is just to the bottom edge of the clutch spring. 38-42 ounces of oil. Do not overfill or the clutch will drag and make finding neutral with the engine running impossible to find.

To drain the transmission, there is a small plug on the bottom side of the chrome cover on the right side of the transmission. Remove the plug, drain the tranny, and refill through the large plug that takes a hex key in the chrome cover. 20-24 ounces of transmission lube.

Good Luck

When I change my oil (cold) all the oil does not drain from my softtail only 1 1/2 Qts comes out of tank drain. Where is the rest.

It's either in the bottom of the crankcase or you're using a quart and a half between oil changes. Always change the oil when the bike is at operating temprature!

1989 harley davidson heritage softtail carborator shooting oil

Shooting oil? Your engine is what we refer to as a "head breather". This is because the crankcase pressure is vented into the carburetor, by EPA requirements, through the two large hollow bolts on either side of the breather backing plate. They may be covered by rubber plugs but you can see them when you take the air filter off. Oil accumulation is normal but "shooting" is not. This would indicate a excessive buildup of oil in the rocker boxes and failure of the "umbrella valves" in the center section of the rocker box covers. I'd take the air filter cover off and clean it out thoroughly and see if it still did it. If so, you've got a problem with the crankcase venting system on the engine. Since I'm not that familiar with the Twin Cam engine, I'm reluctant to guess exactly what the problem is. In the older Evolution engines that I'm familiar with, I'd suspect the "breather gear" in the cam chest but I'm not sure the TC-88B engine uses this system. Sorry I can't be more specific.

good luck

I wont to change my oil and filter. where is the drail plug on my 03 heritage softtail clasic?

I'm not familiar with every year model but most of the time on a Softail, the oil drain is a hose that runs down the frame on the right side of the bike. It ends down low just behind the transmission. There is a plug in the hose, remove the plug to drain the oil.
