Will 2006 R1 wheels fit in my 2003 R1

2003 R1 5PW. Will the front forks & wheels from a Yamaha 2006 R1 5VY, fit my 2003 R1 5PW. I've got a pair of 5VY forks and i wondered if these will fit into the 2003 R1 yokes and also the wheels, especially the rear wheel from the 2006 R1. If so, what is needed to fit, ie: spacers etc.

SOURCE: 05 R1 front wheel

A new wheel is going to cost $$$$. You should be able to get a good used wheel for $$ by getting on the web and Google
' motorcycle salvage yamaha '. Take three digital photos of your wheel, a side view both sides and a close up of the brake mount area. When you locate a dealer saying they have the wheel, email the photos and your contact info. If their wheel matches up, go for it.

SOURCE: fit new front wheel bearing

It is a pretty involved job without the proper tools....a press is used as Lloyd mentioned. If you do attempt it or if you take it somewhere....make sure they do not discard the shim (if there is one) that is inside the hub when you take the bearings apart. If you do not replace it then you will be fixing the bearings very shortly.
Not sure where you are located but there are some people that will have you ship them a hub assembly and they will rebuild them. Take a look at fordfestiva.com for more help.

Would a 2006 yamaha r1 fairing kit fit a 2001 yamaha r1 or even a later model then 2006?

Yes, but you may need to adapt the brackets or cut the fairing to fit in places. It is possible to fit just about any fairing to any bike- as long as you are prepared to adapt it.

Yamaha r1 5vy how to remove the oil/water pump

Drain the oil and water. Remove the radiator and exhaust pipes. Remove the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. Remove the bolts holding the water pump/oil pump on.
Here is a diagram of the oil pump/water pump:

R1 gearbox

You have a bent shift fork. The engine comes out and the bottom case gets removed. This exposes the gears and below the gears, the shift drum and shift forks. Generally speaking this is not a job for the Saturday mechanic. Some special tools are involved.
