Question about Motorcycles
This has happened 3 times in the past 2 years. Last time took it to a dealership and they said it was the alternator causing it so put a new one on, talked to a man today and he said alternator shouldnt have caused that. what to do?
Make the dealership fix it properly. If they refuse, talk to the district manager.

how long did you let it sit for with gas in the carbs, you may have clogged up your jets. after awile gas will break down and turn into varnish, if your bike trys to push the varnish through the system it will clog the jets. try to take off your seat then remove your plastic over the gas tank. remove the gas tank and you will see four bowls *silver ones right next to where the gas tank is on the carbs*. your bowls are in sets of two. there are drain screws on the bowls to remove the gas inside. remove the 16 screws holding the bowl onto the carb. *4 on each* inside you will see your floats and jets. carefully loosen the jets with a screw driver then finish unscrewing them by hand, they are brass and very soft. you should be able to hold up the jets to the light and see a small pin hole. if not get some carb cleaner and give them a squirt and blow them out. do not try to use anything to clean them out, they are very very sensitive and one knick will change the jet. after that i would spray some carb cleaner up the jet holes and try to clean them out also. if you have a compressor it would be wise to use that to blow out the gunk from the jet holes as well. after you run threw all 8 jets put them back together and see how it goes, if nothing you may have to check the jets again and if clogged again your carbs are gunked up and will need to be cleaned

You need to look at the belt and determine what caused the break, wheel alignment could cause it or one of the sprockets could have a rough edge on the sprocket, check then to see if they have a razor like edge on the outer edge and if it has a ring to hold the belt onto the sprocket check that it has no burrs on it it as well. if there is no burrs it is possible you got a bad belt and it would have to be checked by the belt manufacture. Regardless if the belt broke they should make it good if they have any kind of reputation, if it was my costumer I would do it without question and at no charge to the costumer and send it to the manufacture for a refund for a defective belt, it happens.. Hope this helps and thanks for using Fix-ya.

Since you have the CDI failure for the second time , it is important that the voltage parameters are checked on the bike charging system.
The CDI is equipped to handle a wide range but if there is any chance of the voltage build up being higher or containing Ac factors out of a poor rectification circuit, the CDI can be effected. So test the inputs.
Now make sure the outputs are also not shorting out, check the ignition system.
If you have made any alterations, it is an areas to recheck so as the CDI is not draining out into the new unit.
The CDI is overheating with a reason and if you have not found any such defects in the bike it will be good to send your olda nd damaged units to CDI service for review. It can be confirmed if this is a manufacturing errors for which you can even get a free replacement. make sure the ground connections are tight as well as the battery leads.
