Question about Motorcycles

1 Answer

Recently bought a bike its been standing for just over a year and am having trouble starting it.

I've recently bought a bike, it's only 2 years old but its been standing for just over a year, it wont start straight off, I have charged the battery and it started briefly after I put it back in, but apart from that it wont go. It is cranking over and it sounds like its trying to start but its just just not getting there, does anyone have any solutions/ suggestions?

Why wont my r6 start?

Just because the wires are still connected, doesn't mean they are intact or that the switches they are connected to are working. If the bike does nothing, it would indicate that the problem is most likely with the Kill switch. Check all the wiring in that region and make sure the switch still works.

This morning I tried to start my bike.Yamaha R6 06 model . But it don't want to start. I've tried by pulling the clutch and lift the stand but stil it won't start... Can any 1 help me pls.

Hi, Jan and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

I've recently bought a 98 gsxr 600 srad Aparently

Tha carbs are dried up and full of crud and some of the jets are most likely clogged. this is a job for one who know what to do since balancing and adjusting takes special tools. dont try and just dump fuel cleaner in it either it wont help! just clog it more. they will need to be opened and cleaned . from your description hopefully you got a good deal so spend the money and get it done right or you will burn it up and wind up stranded someplace not a good bike to push.

Hero Honda carb overflows a little after bike stands still for more than 3-4 hours

Have you got a fuel tap petcock? If so, just turn the fuel off after each run. If you've got a diaphragm (vaccuum) fuel tap, then maybe the diaphragm has perished.

I have a 1995 Triumph Thuderbird Sport with 13,853 original miles. I have had this bike since 1999. My bike has recently been over heating and then shutting down. I noticed my coolant was low so and...

Sounds like either your thermostat isn't working, or the switch on the side of the rad which tells the fan to switch on is faulty. They are cheap and easy to replace using a Haynes manual or similar.

2008 Hyosung GT650S I think my side stand relay is causing my bike not to start. The Stator was replaced recently and the battery seems to be holding a charge fine. Sometimes the bike just won't...

What I would suggest then is to bridge the side stand switch. If the switch stays open circuit, it will never start but if you bridge the wires before the switch then the bike should start and have now solved the problem for the interim or you if it does not start you know you have to look elsewhere.

Please get back if you require anything else or give favorable feedback.

Thank you
