Doubble check the battery voltage ... check all your connections and check for proper polarity. Connections must be clean and tight.

I was changing blinker and crossed a wire it shorted out lost all power to motorcycle and all fuses in fuse box are good what could be problem and where is it located

Hi, Leslie either your battery is dead, your main fuse is blown or you have a battery connection issue or you have a dead short which is usually the easiest to find. Using a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder, start probing the wire leaving the fuse holder about an inch away the test light should illuminate, keep probing towards the ignition switch until the test light no longer illuminates you are now very close to the short. Good luck and have a nice day.

My 99 xvl600 Honda transalp is overcharging the battery. I've tried changing thr reg/rect but it still boils battery?

A battery boiling dry is an indication that accessories have been added to the motorcycle incorrectly. If you add a radio or spotlights and attach the power wire directly to the battery, you bypass the voltage regulator/rectifier. The charging system can not regulate the charging system correctly and over charges the battery. If you want to add accessories you need to add them using a power wire past the regulator/rectifier so the charging system can properly regulate itself. Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 sportster 883. The battery keeps getting drained and wont charge while driving. i already put a new battery in it and was wondering if there was a common trend with this.

If you are not charging, I suggest you look at one of two things: (1) is the rectifier not working (changes AC from your alternator into "rectified" DC) or (2) the alternator is not producing power for some reason.

Alternators cannot make power unless you first put power into the device, BTW.

Before you purchase another battery and/or get stranded, please have your motorcycle looked at by a professional at your local HD Repair Shop.

Thanks for your question @

I rode my motorcycl into work and it was fine. When i went to leave nothing no lights, no power its not the battery and i change the ignition still nothing. what should i check next

Check you battery cables. Make sure there is no bad ground or any corrosion. If you have a bad ground to the battery, engine or frame this can cause electrical problems. If that is not the problem then check the main fuse to see if it is blown.
