Your old indicators ... the lamp has two filaments and the new indicator lamp has one filament? ... I am guessing ... The old indicators have running lights and turn signals while the new have only turn indicator. If you check this and find it to be true ... You will find power on the wire you should hook up when you turn on the turn signal. Find power with a volt meter or the actual lamp with proper ground to the frame. If this isnt the case, you may have a ground wire. Look inside the lamp sockets for both devices to see if there is one or two buttons in the bottom.

Run with this and let me know what happens.

Should i replace the flasher unit ?

  • A Miller Dec 06, 2012

I need more info from you before I can answer the question should you replace your flasher. I dont thik the flasher was addressed in the original question. What is the deal with the lights? One filament or two? Have you tried looking at the generic shop man at the Honda Rider Club web site? Have you done any research in the form of asking at the parts department where you bought the replacement lamps?

Hi, your plug number for an NGK plug is D8ESL As far as the plug socket size it is a 13/16 deep well socket. The gap should be set at .07-.08mm.

WHERE can i download a repair manual for a Honda CB 400 super four hyper vtec spec II?

Hi, Snooky the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. To download your manual please click on the links below. Good luck and have a nice day.

I have a cb 400 Project Big One. one of the three yelow wires on the regualtor rectifier socket has some burns. Is it the reason why my RR keeps failing? or is it just symptom of a biger problem? thnks

If the wires are burnt then the reg/rectifier is junk. It may test within tolerance with a multimeter but it isn't any good once they burn. Replace it with a known good one.

Hi (.honda cb 400-4) float posts damaged on original carbs.so replacements stripped & cleaned out i also fitted new jets adjusted float heights.to 21mm or 22mm (miss informed by a haynes manual).valve...

Were the jets the same size? Just because the numbers were the same does not assure you that someone has not used a jet drill to enlarge them. Pull the low speed jets and compare them with the old ones, using a wire gauge or set of number drills.

Headlight went out and it's not the bulb

Just check the wiring in the switch housing on your control sets. The contacts inside sometimes oxidize in the old hondas, stopping a good connection. A quick rub with a wire brush will sort it out if that's the case. Lovely looking bike BTW.
