I don't understand. If the start switch is not working when you turn on the switch on the gas tank, how are you trying to start the bike?

Hi!
From your brief description there could be many reasons for your Bagger not starting, Mine(FLHR 98) had a coil issue once however is the switch on the Bars above the starter button set to run? also which way are you turning the ignition as anti clock just puts on the side lights, pop it one click clockwise and oil battery lights should illuminate.
Finally I hope the battery is fully charged?
Fixya'd?
If so press the Blue button,

Cruise control

Hi Mike, diagnosing cruise control issues is extremley complex and must be done in a precise manner that involves to many steps to resolve through this media of Fixya. There are a couple of things you can check are your throttle cables to tight (no free play) and is your brake light stuck in the on position. If none of these are an issue you need to take a ride or drive over to your local dealers service/parts department, I'm sure they will be happy to take your Harley Davidson for a test ride if necessary and offer professional advice and assistance concerning your issue. Have a nice day.

2008 ultra classic brake lights stay on and cruise won't work

Hi Anonymous, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. Sounds like the front brake assy. on the handle bar was removed without the card board insert installed between the front break lever and the little piston which can damage it and cause the front brake switch not to work right as the piston in the handle assy. won,t slide back and forth when the lever is moved in and out

My 05 Harley electra glide wont start or light up

Hi Nicoleelizab, when checking for spark the CKP needs to measure the compression bump in order to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM so always check for spark with either a third plug grounded or lift the end of the plug boot 1/2 " off one of spark plugs that are in the head. and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty
2. Fuel supply valve turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded with gasoline as a result of over use of enrichner.
5. Fuel valve or filter clogged.
6. Vacuum hose to automatic fuel supply valve disconnected, leaking, or pinched.
7. Discharged battery, loose or broken battery connections.
8. Loose wire connection at coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, spark plug cable connections loose,
or cables connected to wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to faulty ignition coil, ignition module, or sensors " Manifold Absolute Pressure" "Camshaft Position Sensor" "Crank Position Sensor" "Brake Apply Sensor
11. Engine lubricant to heavy ( winter operation )
12. Sticking or damaged valves or push rod wrong length.
13. Primary cam sproket spline sheared or missing spacer.
14. Security alarm system not disarming.

Brake lights, turn signal and horn not working...

Check the wiring within the headlight shell--look for connectors that may be corroded or pulled loose. A little WD-40 will favor connection integrity when sprayed into the connectors, then coupling and uncoupling them several times. Hope this helps!

Voltage problem when running bike

The voltage regulator should present 13.5 to 14.5 volts at the battery to charge it properly (engine at fast idle). I'm not sure if the V regulator is adjustable or not. If not, then it probably needs to be replaced. The alternator appears to be trying to do it's job, although it may have an open diode or winding if the alternator is 3-phase. An oscilloscope is the best tool to check for all three phases working properly. Good luck!
