Speedo bounces and stereo cuts in and out when I hit a bump in the road

I can also hit the handle bar while driving on a smooth surface and it will cut in and out also

SOURCE: replace handle bars

Mine had wiring inside the bars as well. Basically I removed the controls from the bars, and removed the 2 bolts holding the handle bars on. I removed the RIGHT side gas tank after draining it. I intended on cutting the wires to the connectors, pulling the wires out of the old handle bars, and pulling them back through the new bars. Note: Mark the black wires very carefully, since there were 5 black wires in the two connectors and they are all unique wires. The colored wires were easy, just match them back up. Several tricks I found on line. Use a string and a bolt to fish a pull line down through the new bars then pull the wire bundle through. This worked great on both left and right wire bundles. I then bolted the new handle bars in place and remounted the controls. I then replaced the shrink tubing up the bundles that hid the actual wires as they came out of the handle bars down to where I cut the connector wires, behind the right side tank. Next I stripped and tinned all the wires I cut (twist and get a little solder to stick on the wires) and stuck little pieces of shrink tubing up or down the wire so after I resoldered the wire I could shrink the insulation back over the splice. I picked up the shrink tubing and some extra wire a home depot. I had a soldering iron, and heat gun so away I went connecting the dots again. Litte tedious but hey. It saved me somewhere between $500 -$700 bucks which is what the harley shop quoted before I started. I tested each function, then reinstalled the gas tank and tightened up all the stuff. Below is the pin out in case you do loose a wire marker, like I did. Good Luck.

I would first check the battery connections and make sure they are clean, and also check the battery. it sounds like you make be losing the electrical power, as that would make the ignition cut out.

You are exactly right...it is a short..I have seen this many times, my Ultra did the same thing....i found my short in the main harness under the tank.

Recently purchased 2006 forenza 5 speed 80,000 steers runs great but something in suspension makes car feel like you are driving a trampoline the car just bounces excessively any ideas?

What should be the correct tire pressure for a road bike especially when racing?


There is no one correct answer to your question. The proper pressure depends on how much you weigh, and the surface you are riding on. Most people think they should pump their tires to iron like hardness to reduce rolling resistance. In a perfect world this would work great, but, we don't live in a perfect world and you should resist the temptation. First, a couple of comments about rims and tires...

Beleive it or not, rims are not necessarily able to handle as much pressure as tires. In fact, many high end rims are limited to pressures way below what even the least expensive tires can handle. So, you may want to look on the website of your rim maker to see if there is a limit. Tires too, will have a maximum pressure rating. Be sure not to exceed it.

Road surface makes a big difference. The smoother the surface the more pressure you can run. On a rough surface, though, more pressure will actually slow you down. How can this be, you ask?

You need to think of your tire as a spring. When you hit an obstruction, your tire, just like a spring, compresses. Then like a spring, the tire rebounds. If you have too much air in the tires, you will find your bike bouncing off every little obstruction instead of smoothly rolling over them. Insofar as your wheel meets an obstruction somewhat before bottom, dead, center, you are actually rebounding back! In other words, that bounce is actually a braking action which is slowing you down. Furthermore, too much air will also cause fatigue as ever little bump in the road is transmitted through your bike into your body.

Of course, too little air in your tire will cause you to get a pinch flat because the rim will pinch the tube against the obstruction making a pair of holes that look like a snake bite.

The perfect amount of air will cause your tire to conform to an obstruction and roll over it with minimal rebound. Obviously, it will prevent pinch flatting, as well.

So, what is the perfect pressure? Well, one thing for sure is it much less than the stated maximum on the tire or the rim. I weight about 165 lbs. On a really smooth road, I'll use around 100 lbs. On rougher roads, I ride with around 90 lbs. If you weight more, put a bit more air in. If you weigh less, try a bit less. In a few rides, you should find the pressure that seems to suit you and the roads you ride nicely.

My back wheel when it hit a pot hole or any other bump in the street it bounce or not enough bounce to it ...the struts are ok an suspension is ok I was told so whats goin on..can u help me


I not sure if I fully understand your question. Are you asking should your car be bouncing more when you hit a bump or pot hole?

Well this is how struts and shocks are suppose to work: Struts and shocks are suppose to assist in providing a smooth ride, when you hit a bump or pot hole the struts and shocks absorb the force so you won't feel the full impact when driving. A good set of struts and shocks will eliminate excessive bouncing when driving or when you come across bumps and other mishaps in the road. So inconclusion if your car is not doing a whole lot of bouncing when you are driving that is a good thing, because that means your struts and shocks are doing their job and that means there is nothing wrong with them.

Clunking and knocking noise from rear when hitting bumps.


-it could be the sawy bar linkages
-but also check to see if the struts are leaking or that it looks damp
-but because you said it doesn't look like it bouncing when you hit a dip most likely it could be that the struts are dead
-check to see the cars ride hieght that would give you a clue
