Check the switch that turns this light on and off. It may be out or adjustment or you may find it shorted.

Hi i also have a problem when i select first gear the neutral light stays on and bike bearly even wants to ride. any help please. thanks

Hi, Quinton and the usual suspects are:
1. Neutral light bulb burnt out.
2. Faulty neutral switch.
3. A loose bulb in the socket.
4. Faulty wiring from the neutral switch to the light.
5. Grounded neutral light circuit.
Good luck and have a wonderful day.

Brake on and move gear selector to N - neutral.
Start the car.

If it start then you has a defective neutral safety switch,

I'm driving an automatic gear car. At traffic light, do I put gear to neutral and pull handbrake, or do I continue to step on the brake. Any difference on either action.

just keep your foot on the brake. It cannot do any damage, the auto box is designed for this

If you put in neutral you risk making a mistake and selecting reverse. or may not select gear inadvertantly on a hill and roll backwards.

So I have a 01 zx9 and the neutral light won't shut off. It will shift iinto all gears while I riding but will only go into 1st and neutral while I'm stopped. I know at times while I'm riding i have issues...

neutral light stays on ( grounded neutral wire / bad neutrl switch.
shifting problems
1. gear shift return spring weak or broken not a lowing the shift lever to to return to its neutral position to grab the next gear selector.
2. Oxidation on shift shaft and case preventing free movement of the shift shaft to return to the neutral position.
3. Clutch adjustment

Gear selection

Some trans were notorious for being hard to find neutral. When in first and you want to go into neutral, put slight pressure on the shift lever, blip throttle and slip lever into neutral. It has something to do with pressure release on the clutch plates.

Gear box goin in to gear but still like it is in nutural

If you select a gear without pulling clutch in it will grind and stall.
If you are certain the bike is engaging a gear and still seems it is in neutral, your clutch drive is broken.
Alternatively, the gear selecter fork bolts maybe loose behind the sidecover, allowing selector to partially engage only and return to neutral. Try selection thru' higher gears, place bike on a stand and turn back wheel in gear, if gears turn and motor doesn't...it is the clutch. If you cannot select a gear proper with rear wheel turning, your selecter is suspect.
Goodluck, and Cheers.

Car wont roll forward or back even in neutral

I assume it's a manual transmission.
If the car will not roll backward or forward in neutral (with or without the clutch engaged) the transmission is most likely locked in two gears at the same time.
This may happen if gear selectors are excessively worn. If you are able to examine the gear selection levers external to the gearbox, ensure they are in the 'neutral' (no gear selected) position when the gear lever is in Neutral. If not in correct position, you may be able to manually reset the levers to correct neutral position and thereby unlock the gearbox.
In any case, if it's happened once, it will happen again, so get the gearbox and gear selection mechanism checked for wear or breakage.
