    Hi and welcome to FixYa,

    Initially, pls confirm/consider and/or try that:

    • the CDI is an original Suziki PEI (Pointless Electric Ignition);

    • you might also check the regulator and the battery/connections. Overvoltage (when revved) would cause the PEI to clampdown to protect itself and therefore no ignition;

    • additionally, inspect for vacuum and/or air leaks.
    Check and perform preliminary visual or necessary inspection. Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

RGV 250 m Backfire

Could be a crack in the boot between the carb and the head. this cracks usually from back firing. also check the exhaust flange to ensure that it is tight. Have you checked the valve clearances lately.

I have a 97 gsxr 600 bike has rebuilt 99 motor with 97 carbs DandD exhaust K&N filter and stage 1 dyno jet kit. it runs great over 3500 - 4000 rpm. It also idles very nice, very smooth. Sounds smooth...

if you had cam overlap then it wouldnt start and when you pushed the starter if would smash the valves together, if it runs ok every where else then i would say its a crab fuel problem and at that rev range it would be pilot jets as the mains dont come into use at that rev range you should take your bike to your local dyno center and have them run it up they will sort you problem

Are the carbs properly adjusted?
Also take out the exhaust canister and check the cylinder exhaust port for dirt (burnt oil residue)
