You should adjust your clutch lever. I dont think you are getting complete release. Over time, the cable will stretch. That is why there is a thumb adjuster on the cable. Do not over tighten. Slippage is just about as bad as not releasing completely.
Your owners manual should be able to give you more information on the adjustment. If you dont have one, you can probably get one from the manufacturers web site - which I would give you had you mentioned the make. Still, you can fix this yourself by simply adjusting the cable.
